As 2022 comes to an end, I like to take stock of what I did throughout the year. Here is what happened in Elyden in 2022 in a single image.
A lot more writing in this image than there was in 2021. But then again there's just a lot more content, period - more maps, more art (a big thanks to @artofdomi and Christos Karnezis for the art). A lot more world maps in particular as I try to tick off maps I wanted to get done for the Atlas.
I 'finished' the Encyclopaedia Elyden, and it's now online, updated every month, available for patrons to download. I'll probably reach 1,000,000 words within a few months - a milestone I've been slowly inching towards for a long time!
I also did some cutaway maps, which is something I keep on telling myself I want to do more of, but never get around to - I'd like to do a few more this year!
So, what does 2023 hold? more maps, more lore, more art! There won't be quite so many thematic maps as there were in 2022, but there will be more regional maps as I expand the scope of my cartography to previously uncharted region.
I'll also be starting a serialised story in which patrons will be able to choose the direction the story will take at key junctures - I'm looking forward to writing this. I hope it won't get in the way of the maps and lore (which is what I know most people are here for), but I need to start writing, to do something with all this lore!
Speaking of patrons - thank you for the continued support, suggestions, corrections and kind words. I know it sounds stupid, but if it wasn't for my patrons I doubt I'd have done half the work I did this year, so you've all helped me stick to my schedule. Thanks!
Happy New Year!
