the Steppes of Temuja Art Page

Here's some art and background for the heathen lands of Temuja, including some publicly-licenced art by Stephane (Wootha) Richard.

Temuja is a place near and dear to my heart as it is the place where Elyden started many years ago. It was the first region of Elyden that I detailed, and at the centre of the first map that I made for the world.

Its name is somewhat on the nose, but over 15-years down the road I don't have the heart or mind to change it, so Temuja it shall remain. This is good, in a way, as the culture is directly influenced by Mogolian traditions, with some twists and changes to make it my own.

Since I came up with Elyden, my Worldbuilding has developed on a macro-scale and I've moved away from Temuja, both 'physically' (with my worldbuilding focusing on the far more cynical Korachani empire), as well as technologically (the world itself is far more advanced than Temuja, which is one of the more antiquated regions in Elyden), which is a shame as the world did start as a more traditional 'swords-and-sorcery' fantasy world, which is now developed into an...um, I don't know... crapsack steampunk world.

Anyway, here is some history and a  bit of culture for Temuja. Hope you enjoy :)

It's obvious only if you know such detail (I'm relatively knowledgeable), I would say xD

very much so. I worry it might be a bit too obvious, but its the oldest name in Elyden - the first name I came up with within the world and dont want to change it now. I do mention it in the writeup of the post :)

Is temuja a reference to Temujin, the true name og Gengis Khan?
