The adventure truly begins before they even set foot in Parthis, when they cross paths with a sanctimonious diplomat and her sizeable entourage, who are also making their way to Parthis.
Once there, the cartographer follows the assembly as they catalogue their findings. There is much condescension in their appraisals of the foreign nation, but the cartographer is wowed by their secularism and their easy manipulation of mortal bodies - bespoke beasts can be seen everywhere, and even the bodies of his Parthisan counterparts are seamlessly modified to tailor their roles. He is fascinated and beings to write down his thoughts in a journal that gains the attention of some powerful government figures...
