Added 2017-03-26 18:00:28 +0000 UTCI couldn't help myself, so I made another one of these heraldry / biographies, this one detailing a naturalist and scholar of Almagest. His speciality? Faerex and other 'fey' creatures of the Old Forests of central Llachatul. I just got an image of a faerie spread open on a table like an anatomical venus and had to roll with it.
Faerex are semi-sapient creatures, reaching 8 “ - 12” inches in height that resemble small humanoid stick insects with large gossamer-thin wings. First-mentioned in the Mythologia Elyden, they are descendants of a single wicked Deruweid - one of the Two-and-Twenty mortal races - who, lost and near death, came across the Tree of Agen the Old Forest and home of the Demiurge Achaiah. A stream of golden sap did trickle down the tree. The deruweid drank from the sap and found her strength restored, though her body was forever changed to reflect her capricious and nasty nature. Her descendants would become known as the faerex: equally whimsical and cruel. They live in the Old Forest and in what vestiges of the natural world remain in the cities of Llahatul - cisterns, overgrown ruins, and forgotten parks.
