trouble

Hey all,

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. My last week has been pretty crazy, way too much partying and drinking and catching up with old friends.. but last night I had a sobering experience that has really been eating at me.

My bf and I decided to have a party-its a holiday, we have friends in town visiting. Everyone is in my apartment-it is loud, but not unreasonable. No one is screaming or on the balcony or anything. Some friends call and say they're at the gate, my bf runs down the stairs to get them, and the neighbor comes out and complains that his running down the stairs is too loud. Next time, he walks quieter down the stairs, and she sends her boyfriend out to try to intimidate him for walking down the stairs. He realizes pretty quickly that these people are just looking to complain at this point (it was pretty early-around 8 or 8:30pm). At about 9:30pm my landlord's wife shows up (I guess the landlord is out of town) and starts telling us the neighbor is complaining about the noise, and the guy who was trying to intimidate us runs up behind her being irrationally aggressive, saying he's going to kick his ass, and beat us down and nonsensical stuff. The landlord's wife actually says "you have to shut the party down because this guy is going to start a fight and kick your ass".... I'm completely baffled that a noise complaint is being taken more seriously than threats of physical assault. I now feel threatened in my own home, and still have to live next to this nut job. I got all of my friends to leave by 10pm and go over to a local bar, but I'm truly so upset about this that I just don't want to leave my bed. I don't like upsetting people and I feel like it could have been solved by a simple apology, but instead I have a crazy aggressive, nut case neighbor who is looking for any reason to start a fight. My boyfriend is not the type of person to get into physical altercations with anyone when things can be rationally solved, which I think just makes people like this even more infuriated. It was very clear the neighbor was saying anything possible to egg him on-he wanted my boyfriend to throw the first punch so he could look like a victim. My ability to stomach people like this is incredibly low.

Next time I see the neighbor I will probably apologize for the noise, but tell him any physical threats will be met with a restraining order in the future. It is never appropriate to threaten people with violence.

So anyway, I apologize for the rambling, but I've spent much of my morning looking at apartments and houses online. My hopes are to buy a house, but I won't be able to make that an option until the end of this year/early next year. I'm undecided on buying vs renting because the market is so bad, but truly mortgages in Los Angeles are cheaper than rent. It is nuts. Any real estate agents with good advice? lol.

My friend who is visiting leaves tomorrow and I'll start getting more updates going soon. I sent out patreon signed prints for $20 and under today, and should have the rest out tomorrow.

Just so everyone knows, I have a few pull apart polaroid 100's which I'm going to send home to a few of my upper level patrons instead of the polaroid 600's. I wish I had enough for everyone because they're really great, but I just have a few in my possession. I'll definitely post scans so you all can see.

have a good week everyone.

xoxo

That was disconcerting I never understand people looking for trouble either. Hang in there
