Hello my friends!
I have finally returned from my road trip with Titania to San Francisco, and am SWAMPED with stuff to catch up on now that I'm home. First thing's first, I got all the prints signed and shipped!
I wanted to let y'all know all about our trip though. Titania and I are creating a wardrobe and styling business together-so we hit up some stuff to give us ideas and inspiration.. plus it was an opportunity to have LOTS and LOTS of fun! She flew to Los Angeles and we started out with some estate sale shopping, followed by a Big Freedia concert. The next day we went to Dragcon which is RuPaul's drag queen convention. It had some of the best costumes I've ever seen (check out my snapchats, there are some photos in there!) Anyway, what we found was that a large percentage of the audience was female, and male or female, they were all mostly looking for extravagant costuming (which is my specialty!). We're hoping to get a booth for the Dragcon in the fall in NY, but its going to be a huge overhead...so I have to remind myself, one step at a time!
That night we did my favorite drinking game, we watched the R Kelly classic Trapped in the Closet and took sips every time he pulls out his gun. Made it through 22 chapters! After a bit of a hangover the next morning we got ourselves dressed up and went to the Renaissance Faire. While I don't think we'll be selling our goods there any time soon, it is really fantastic inspiration. That night we rinsed the dust off from faire and later went to karaoke. Holy cow, long crazy weekend. and on Monday... well we started our trek to San Francisco!
2 photoshoots a day every day, and sleeping on an air mattress at a friend's place.. I threw out my shoulder! I don't know what I could've done, but I'm blaming the air mattress. My last few photo shoots were PAINFUL. I'm starting to feel a bit better now that its been a few days, but oh lawd I was hurting Friday and Saturday.
Anyway, I'll end this here. The photos attached are some old favorites by Hataiiia. We shot these sometime between 2007-2009 and they ended up getting published and shared all over the world. Hataiiia is Ukrainian and she has a strong fan base there too. These remain some of my absolute favorites in my career <3
goodnight,
Carlotta
