SIR, IT IS FRIDAY
Added 2025-01-31 10:44:57 +0000 UTCAaaaaand… as you were.
We’re off to see the grandsons for a couple of days, as Bruce turned three this week. From us he’s getting a Playmobil combine harvester to go with the tractor we got him for Christmas (he is obsessed with farm equipment – his mum and dad actually bought him some fake grass for his birthday so that he can “harvest” it), a scooter, a couple of books, and – Sanja is insisting this is just from me and nothing to do with her – a fart machine.
What can I say? He finds farts funny. Chip off the old block. I’m so proud of him. My daughter will hate it.
But! We’ll be back in time for Sunday night’s DL2 premiere. That’s at 7pm, don’t forget, if you want to come and join us in the chat.
Next week we’re getting back to making stuff. We’ve decided to do some filming here before we go to Poland – we thought we should do a quick fun little thing between bigger videos. Something of a palette-cleanser. So, we found a ridiculous topic to cover.
After that, it’ll be our Poland series, which we’re very excited about. You may have noticed that Poland is in the global spotlight these days, for one reason or another.
Before you wonder… we’re not going to Auschwitz (it seems to be the first thing everyone asks). I want to go eventually, but it’s the wrong topic for a Digi video, I think. We’re not afraid to deal with heavier stuff occasionally, but that seems too heavy for a whole video. The tonal shift from DL2 would give everyone a hernia. Plus, Poland’s a big place, and the stuff we are focusing on isn’t anywhere near that area.
We’ll be covering a lot of ground though – taking us from one end of the country to the other, and possibly popping over the border into Lithuania. We should get at least three videos out of it, and they’ll be completely different to one another.
Or maybe we’ll just save some money and create the entire video with AI.
JOKE. Joke.
Also, now that normal service has been resumed, we’re going to get back to doing some Patreon-exclusive stuff, and make sure the various tiers are appropriately rewarded for their support. Thanks for bearing with us while we got DL2 done (though I did start animating a Drong's Title sequence this week, to go along with Jerden Cooke's gorgeous theme music).
Talking of support…
Lastly, just a thank you for the support yesterday. It was pretty rotten. We have lost some supporters over it, but not many. Sanja did notice that one has blocked us on all social media which seems like something of an overreaction, but nothing we'll lose sleep over.
I’ve mentioned before that I’m an incorrigible people-pleaser, so I hate upsetting anyone. BUT! Being a people-pleaser, instead of one of those sorts who just steamrollers through life like Deathbot 3000, seems more often than not to result in upsetting people more. Or upsetting myself anyway.
Sanja – bless her – has been very good at encouraging me to ignore that, listen to my instincts, and be true to myself. It’s a work-in-progress, but I’m trying.
In the end, that’s all we can do.
Speak to you Sunday.
Paul

Hope you have a great trip, and happy birthday to Bruce! Yes, I remember you telling us that he loves tractors, etc., and brilliant re: the fart machine! Looking forward to the premiere - have really enjoyed what I've seen so far (it deserves my full attention and not just watching it on a tiny phone screen! :) ). Brilliant work as always.

2025-01-31 20:58:05 +0000 UTCBeware the Suwalki Gap, don't be enticed into going in to Kaliningrad! Have a great time with your grandchildren, I'm jealous of the Playmobil Combine Harvester. That's all I wanted atthat age, I was fascinated by the things. I got connected to the internees in my new place today so will join the DL2 prem! woohoo!!!
