MONDAY BLOG: BIRTHDAY GIRL

Happy Monday!

It’s Sanja’s birthday! Hurrah! An excuse for me to delay going back to work for another day (though technically I was back in the “office” last Thursday). You don’t need a big long list of superlatives from me, but it’s probably pretty evident how much she means to me. My best friend.

In Digi-terms, without her you wouldn’t have had any of the stuff I’ve made over the past almost-a-decade. Even before she started popping up on screen, she helped pull everything together behind-the-scenes. More than that though… she encourages me (for good and bad!). I’d never had that before I met her. I always knew she’d be brilliant in front of the camera, and I know you’ve come to love her too. I don’t know how I got so lucky.

In exciting news (for us), we’re finally getting our ceiling fixed this week! Well, technically our extension roof, but that has to be done before we can sort out the ceiling. We’ve no excuse to delay anymore, because another bit of it started leaking with the rain over the weekend. We’ve been living with it for so long now that when we accepted the guy’s quote yesterday we both got emotional. We’re idiots, but… y’know.

Sanja made a list at the weekend of everything we did last year, and we went over everything else that had happened too… and all I could think was how tired I was the whole time. Every video, every challenge that was thrown at us, every bit of work… I had to dredge up the energy necessary to get through. It was painful going over it all to be honest, and I felt genuinely bad for myself, but it’s a relief to feel we’re turning a corner at last. Right now… I feel more rested than I have done in years. I’m ready to go!

Digi Level 2 Ep 5 might be with you by the weekend. We’re filming some green screen bits and pieces on Thursday – delayed slightly while the builders are here replacing the roof tomorrow and Wednesday.

I’m almost done with the edit of what’s already filmed – just in the middle animating a couple of extra moments right now. I also have to record some voice-over for the Top 10. Guests in this next one include Dan Does, Sooz, and Eli. Plus of course… me, Gannon and Sanja. We’ll be doing a premiere, as we did with the first four, but you’ll also get it early.

Not sure what the timeframe of Ep 6 will be, but hopefully before the end of the month. It’s a slightly bigger editing job – for reasons you’ll see. 

Our Poland trip is coming together. I’m not booking yet, because I’m waiting on the weather forecast. Some of where we’re intending to go is pretty remote, and can be impassable in winter, so we need to be sure we can get there. We can’t leave it too long, because some of what we want to film is time-sensitive, but we do have potential back-up plans if we can’t get there until the weather improves.

Most of this month’s focus will be Digi Level 2, but after they’re out of the way our aim is to get you videos on a more regular basis again; a mix of longer and shorter ones. Poland alone should be three vids. They won’t be Part 1, 2 and 3, but we might put them under an umbrella title. Expedition: Poland, or something like that.

Anyway. Right. Sanja’s birthday. Best go spoil her.
