We had planned a video for this week, but time has run away with us, and instead we’re filming at least two today. Admittedly, we’re not quite back to full speed, and back into a routine, following Digi Live. Not having my own laptop has put us behind, and we’re both still a bit burnt out, if I’m honest. Which is why the next couple of videos we get you will be combined with us taking a break. If that makes sense.
Today we’re doing another Great British Days Out, this time vising some strange places in Oxfordshire, then we’re staying overnight at an extremely bizarre hotel, and aim to do something of a vlog on that. Both will be a chance to try out our new lapel mics, and some new camera gear we also invested in. And there might be a bit of filming in Oxford itself, if I feel up to it after my meeting on Thursday (yes: a meeting… it’s that kind of break).
But… it’s also a chance for us to have a night away, as we’ve not really been anywhere since almost dying in the desert in 2019. All our kids went away this summer, and I’d be lying if I said we hadn’t been viewing their various holidays with slightly envious eyes.
We’ve planned our next bunch of videos, and we’ll be back to full desk duty soon.
Anyhooo… while a video won’t be out for the general populace this week, you should have one by the weekend. And – hey – we’re driving today, so you'll likely get yet another bonus car ramble.
That’s it! Something coming up for Writer’s Club imminently... Then I shall be laminating my facts. Matron?

2023-08-24 15:09:16 +0000 UTCI'm sure Gannon's already given you some tips, but something I caught myself out with on that DJI set: the transmitter and receiver gain does seem to get reset to 0 every so often (possibly after updates?), the main display when you're looking at the receiver will show the current gain levels for both mics and the receiver. (It's worth increasing them as far as you can get away with without clipping, especially if you're using the analogue output) Also, always start the backup recording on the transmitter itself. That's saved me a number of times. And annoyed me a number of times when it would have saved me, had I not forgotten to press the magic button.
