UPDATE: DIGI, BYAMPOD, AND MORE

Hello, gang. Not sure yet whether there'll be a Digi this week, as Sanja's a bit poorly. Without spelling it out (that's what BYAMPOD is for), she's had something up with her guts for a few weeks, and it isn't shifting. She keeps seeming to get better, and then goes downhill. We were due to record today, but she was up half the night, so I obviously don't expect her to want to be on camera today.

Likewise, this will also affect the possible Biffo's Brain Zoom on Thursday and next week's BYAMPOD, as both will depend on how she's feeling. I'll keep you posted.

There should, however, be a Writer's Club later today. It's recorded. It just needs finishing up.

In other news...

Digi Live Weekend ticket sales continue to be disappointing. The previous Digi Lives were pretty much sold out, so I'm guessing it's a combination of the current cost of living hell we're all going through, and the fact we've just overreached with the two day thing. I suspect by making it two days, that puts some people off from even booking just one of them.

We will continue to keep an eye on the ticket sales, and make a call in March as to whether the Friday is going ahead, or whether to cut our losses. Frankly, at the minute we won't break even on the Friday, let alone make a profit, so we just can't justify it. Given I know a lot of you have already booked hotels and travel for the Friday, we will try to find a way to still put on something for those who will already be in the area.

If you're intending to go to both, but haven't yet bought tickets, please don't wait much longer before booking, as we will need to know soon how much interest there is. Thank you.

MUSIC

I'm in the final stages of another album (always said with the caveat that I'm well aware most of you aren't here for my musical indulgences).

Yes: I did only release one at the end of last year, but I've decided to make that the first in a sort of linked series. Basically, I finished that last one, and just carried on making songs. Without intending it to be the case, the tracks were more upbeat and optimistic than Borders of Winter, and I pushed myself to make them much more song-y, rather than the sprawling atmospheric stuff I've done before.

Music has been the only reliable part of my creativity over the past few months. Whereas I've not always been able to rely on doing much else - writing, painting, recording, have sometimes been like pulling teeth - somehow putting on a pair of headphones and losing myself in music creation could always be relied upon.

While I would've normally waited before inflicting another one upon you, it feels like such a step up from what I've done before that I thought I'd do something uber-proggy, and release one for each season. Each album will, hopefully, have a different feeling. We've had winter, so this next one will be spring, and there's a track above that you can listen to.

Sorry to hear about Sanja. Hope she is feeling better soon. Paul, I very much like the new song.

David Beerman

Ooph, sorry to hear Sanja's in the wars, I hope she feels better soon. I love the new song, and don't worry about only just having released one. I follow some artists who knock 'em out three a year

Sedric And Charlie

Admittedly first time I've heard one of your tracks, but I like it! Kinda like a proggy ethereal Tom Day meets Boards of Canada. Just popped in to say, if it was a possibility I'd go to every digi live event/meet, but that's a tough time for us filthy americans. Keep up the awesome work, and get well to Sanja!

Araphre

Love to San. I hope she'll be feeling better soon. x New tunes sounding good, Mr B.

Simon Lee Tranter

Hoping Sanja gets better really soon, that's too long already!! I wish so much I could go to the live event, I would absolutely go both days--I know wishes aren't of any benefit to you--but I'm stuck in 'murica. :(

Altar + Crown

Poor Sanja. Hope you kick that bug up it's ass soon, as opposed to the other way round. Sending lots of Welsh cwtches to you both. Can't wait for the live show Biffo. Don't lose hope x

Karen Chesters

Wishing Sanja a speedy recovery. Your music is awesome, I think there is a huge potential for taking this to another level.

Jochen

(I hit send too early..) And I like the song (as I did your past work) - it's great to have multiple creative talents and outlets, so as to be able to chop and change! :)

Hi Paul, sorry to hear about Sanja, and hope that feels better soon. There's definitely something going around that seems to rear its ugly head every now and again (though with me, it might be a case of me "burning the candle at two ends"). RE: Digi Live, it's galling that the event (which is very fairly priced) is potentially out of reach for some because of the hiked up accommodation costs. When booking my hotel (Travelodge) pretty early on, it seemed a far cry from what I remember seeing the local one charge per room, but that might have been decades ago! But, hoping it all works out (to state the bleeding obvious! :D).

Geoffrey Easton

Get well soon Sanja and very excited for new Biffo music. This one did not disappoint.
