EARLY ACCESS: WE BOUGHT 80 YEAR OLD LOVE LETTERS ON EBAY! - Digitiser

Ohhh... I'm proud of this one. It's one of the best (and longest) edit jobs I've done. You won't even realise, because it's not anything particularly flashy. The original footage was over 90 minutes long, and I managed to get it down to around half an hour, almost seamlessly. I don't expect anyone to notice, so excuse me while I parp my own horn!

Matron.

Of course, that does mean an extra bumper crop of outtakes - including several full sequences - for the upper tiers later this week. Plus, it's one of the more emotional eps we've done. At least, the ending is.

What lessons can we learn from an 80 year old romantic relationship, full of passion and longing? I bought a complete stranger's love letters from eBay, and in this episode we track the ups and downs of the relationship - and find out what happened to the couple after World War II...

Did they split up? Get married? Have kids? It's all in here.

Also coming this week should be BYAMPOD (of course), a bonus BYAMPOD, plus a new Writer's Club (in which I'm touching on the subject of Pudsey The Dog The Movie). There might be an upper tiers blog too, if I get time, and I'm going to share more of the love letters with them as well.

Those of you who are waiting on commissions for videos, art, or graphic design... please hang in there. My dad's still in hospital, my mum's still on her own, and my sister is on holiday in Spain until the weekend, which means a lot of the running around is falling on mine and Sanja's shoulders. Oh, and it's my birthday on Friday ("Yay" he says with weary defeatism). Next week is, currently, free to work on all of the extra-curricular stuff for you. I'll drop you a line later in the week.

Right. Enough ramble. Hope you enjoy the video. Oh, and thanks for still being here this month!

Paul

The 1940s equivalent of "just been down Halfords and got some new windscreen wipers", truly one of the great romantic lines of our time.

"The deer hats tell that foul angel... I have wind-shielded wipes for the car, man." 😆 Another brilliant episode. You're most definitely in the groove at the moment. Can't wait for the bonus material!

Simon Lee Tranter

We definitely need a Patreon ep with the juicy bits!

Kathy Holloway (Silph)

Curtis was quite some guy it seems.

Ah man. What a lovely review! Thanks, Jeff!

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

Lovely video this week. It was a pleasant surprise to see Stevens again.

Michael Patterson

I'm glad things'll calm down next week for you with any luck! Do be sure to take some time for yourself and hope you have a very pleasant birthday 👏!

Alright, let's try to flex some of these atrophied lit-crit muscles... In the branding video, you arrived at existential uncertainty for the channel. I think there was a genuine kernel to that part of the video (which is also what made the jokes work!). I also think that, as a result of this legitimate "brand" confusion, you set yourself a goal to make a video that could somehow meld all of the seemingly discordant elements from particular Digi videos. Something that would show the channel's strengths in such a way that you could go on to watch any other Digi video and it would feel familiar. I also also think that you NAILED IT. I loved this throughout; the back and forth between you and Sanja, the MST3K-ish presence of Editor Biffo, the animations, music, and adverts, familiar characters, and the actual core subject of the video... This feels like a jumping off point for diving into Digi, and probably the best video I can think of to try to get friends into it. And the fact that you're writing and editing at 110% in spite of your many non-Digi worries at the moment is even more incredible. Pardon my American accent as I try this out: Well done, mate! Also also also, I could be completely wrong about my guesses, but I stand by what I said about this video!

We’ll be watching tomorrow evening. (Luke says ‘YAY’ re; Stevens. I say ‘oh great, Stevens…’)

Kathy Holloway (Silph)

Looking forward to watching this tomorrow! All the best!

Geoffrey Easton

Ooh, that's a treat for lunchtime tomorrow.
