It's a change to what we expected to come back with in 2022, but a couple of listener comments sent me spinning off in a surprise direction. I thought it was time to discuss... why I went off Fish solo. We're gonna be crucified!! Hurrah!

It always struck me that whereas Marillion were always about moving onwards, Fish quite quickly became predominantly interested in cashing in on his past. I really like Vigil mind.

Having heard take one (also good) I think it was well worth re-recording, if only for the treat of "dynamite in my eyes" and the bulldog clip incident. I'm not very familiar with Fish's solo material at all, but I'm interested to hear Vigil. I have listened to Weltschmerz, and though the album as a whole didn't grab me, I do think the single, Garden of Remembrance, is superb. Gorgeous song. In an early BYAMPOD episode, you talked about there being a strange phenomenon of Iron Maiden fans also being into Marillion. Joining the dots, I notice future Iron Maiden guitarist Jannick Gers appears on one track on Vigil.
