BACK FROM THE COVID BRINK
Added 2021-06-07 19:17:04 +0000 UTCWell... the last 10 days have been eventful/awful... but Sanja and I seem to be through the worst of it at last.
As I said over on Twitter, Covid is far more brutal and debilitating than either of us anticipated. It's far, far from just being flu. I don't quite have the stamina right now to find the words to describe it, but suffice to say you can see quite easily how people have died from it. It feels dangerous. Like it could just take a turn, and consume you. So not only is there the physical side of it, but the psychological impact too; the worry about where it's going to end up.
...As well as all the weird fever-dream anxiety I started having in the middle of it all about the Digi Channel and Digi Live...! But that's for another time...
Right now, I'm about 24 hours on from my fever breaking after 9 relentless days, and my breathing remains difficult, if I do much more than lay on the bed. Sanja's still coughing her guts up.
We did even call an ambulance one morning, when Sanja's breathing was particularly bad, but they checked her out, and as awful as it was... nope... we just had the regular old 'mild' Covid. Which is terrifying.
So anyway... that's it for now. I'll be back with some more news later this week, but thought I'd check in and let you all know that we're still alive; battered and traumatised, but alive. Thanks for sticking with us, gang.
Paul

2021-06-09 19:53:46 +0000 UTCGlad to hear you are all on the mend. Keep an eye on things post Covid too as I have a friend in their 30s who not only had Covid but then suffered mini strokes brought on because of it which has left them very weak. Not in hospital weak but it is saddening to hear them say that they have cried at the thought of just climbing stairs :( It is all an utter bastard.

2021-06-09 12:10:22 +0000 UTCPlease, everyone get one of these, in case you get this dreaded thing - https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/pulse-oximeter-4
2021-06-08 15:23:30 +0000 UTCI must remember to check twitter at times like this. I dont use any social media (except here and youtube, does this count?). I woulda been better checking twitter than harassing someone for an update :) I happily regularly forget twitter exists!
2021-06-08 14:56:09 +0000 UTCI was pretty worried when I hadn't heard anything from you for coming up to a week, then I saw I'd somehow managed to mute you on twitter, which was pretty unhelpful both generally and also especially so given the circumstances. Good to hear you're hopefully getting better, even if it has been (and continues to be) an absolute shit. I know you don't need some random person on the internet to tell you this but obviously take all the time you need to recover!

2021-06-07 19:46:04 +0000 UTCReally glad you're on the mend. Fk those who winge and complain about it being a hoax and mingle, this thing is terrifying. Best wishes to you and Sanja.

2021-06-07 19:45:24 +0000 UTCCrikey! I'm sorry you've both been brought low by the Covids, but I'm glad you seem to be coming out the other side of it. I hope the recovery is smooth and you both feel better soon. We'll all be here when you're back, and don't worry about not "producing content". If all else fails, you could get Beanus or ACTION Man to do a fill in episode for you. I think Sanja knows how to contact them if you don't BIffo.

2021-06-07 19:30:24 +0000 UTCI'm so sorry to hear you're both still struggling with this awful thing. It's so understandable you'd be traumatised by this - being 'scarily ill' is absolutely traumatising and terrifying, and it's a totally understandable emotional response to it. I hope you have time and space to process this patch of time in your lives. Please don't feel obliged to come back to Digi stuff or BYAMPOD or anything until you're way better. You have my immense love and sympathy - I know how bad it sucks being Scarily Ill and you're in my heart x

2021-06-07 19:23:09 +0000 UTCI highly recommend everyone buy one of those little devices that fit on your finger and read your temp and blood oxygen levels. Theyre around 10 - 20 quid, and invaluable. Massive asthmatic here so its one of the first things I bought when all this started. Also, watch Sweet Tooth, its fantastic.
2021-06-07 19:21:58 +0000 UTCGet well soon.
