I'm cautious of sounding wanky and pretentious but I try not to describe myself as a 'fan' of things because it *does* create that power imbalance where one person is the Celebrity and one is the Fan - being a fan makes it easier to be exploited, and I've already experienced that in a way that I'm still recovering from. It was interesting hearing a totally different perspective on this. I don't want them to be 60 feet tall - I want them to wear their cardigan and shuffle along!
