NEW YEAR GREETINGS!
Added 2021-01-04 11:47:24 +0000 UTCHello, top tier gang. HNY! Hope your Christmas was alright despite... well... everything. Ours was okay. The week before Christmas I made the mistake of checking work emails, despite having promised myself that I wouldn't, and it kicked off a big bout of anxiety. I'm lucky in that I don't tend to get anxiety over day-to-day stuff, but when I do it's usually from a big build up to stress. And if you've been following these blogs, I had more than in my fair share over the past couple of months. All it took was something small to tip me over.
It passed, thankfully, and the week between Christmas and New Year was spent in that lovely, indulgent, bubble of telly, food, and games. I could've done with another week of it, to be honest.
One surprise over Christmas was that my new Atari console has shipped. It was a surprise, because I'd forgotten entirely that I even backed the thing. I think the Kickstarter was a couple of years ago, when I was writing regularly about video games. So, expect to see it covered on the channel, and being able to catch up with some games over the break has kind of encouraged me to maybe bring a little more gaming content back into Digitiser. We'll see... but an ep or two on Atari is likely to be first.
Before that... Gannon and I will be talking about the Rubik's Cube this week - an ep we filmed before Covid spiralled out of control. Given how things are, it might be a while before we're able to get together again in person, but until then... Sanja and I will continue to keep you company.
Plans for this year... the big one is obviously Digitiser Live 2.0 in September, fingers crossed. We've talked about bringing back Digitiser Deluxe, and there'll definitely be more Supernatural World. I want to continue to experiment with different topics and types of content. The audio-only A Christmas Carol wasn't hugely popular, but I would like to have a crack at more audio stuff - partly because it's quite easy to gather a cast without everyone needing to be together.
As far as bigger plans go, it's all going to be dependent on how quickly we come out the other side of the pandemic. That said, I do have the germ of an idea for something quite weird, and meta, and fun... but I'll say no more for now.
Anyhow! Hope you're all doing okay. Back to editing/day job...
Paul
