WHAT'S COMING UP...!
Added 2020-01-23 12:47:10 +0000 UTCHello all. Apologies for those of you waiting on the second part of my 10 Commandments. Filming and editing this week has put me a bit behind with the day job, and I'm also trying to finish off the Digi The Show DVDs.
It's coming though!
Thought I'd give you a bit of an update on how filming went this week, and give you a few hints of what's coming up.
It was a strange session; I was coming down with a cold/sore throat - which I seem to have fought off - and didn't feel quite engaged. Gannon and Eli were on spectacular form however, though strangely... afterwards Eli said he hadn't felt he was doing his best either. Sanja, though, said she hadn't noticed a thing from behind the camera, and thought we were all very funny. So I dunno. Maybe it's just the weird, artificial, position of being in front of a camera which brings out those feelings. Certainly, the day went by in a blur - it felt VERY chaotic. More so even than usual. God knows what Chris Bullock - who was working on sound - thought...!
Annoyingly, despite having an actual SOUND PROFESSIONAL there - we've had some issues with my vocal track. It was the same problem we had on Digitiser The Show; apparently lapel mics struggle with the - ahem - unusual timbre of my voice! It ends up distorted at high volume. Chris did her best to minimise it, as she did on Digi The Show, but the issues remain. So, sorry if the next few vids don't sound quite as crystal clear as they normally do.
Next month we're renting out my mate's little studio to record some stuff. We've invited some special guests - Sooz Kempner and Larry Bundy Jr are confirmed, we're also hoping we can get Ash Frith and some others - and the plan is to record some bigger games, like we had at the end of every Digitiser The Show.
If it sounds like we're recording far too much content... it's kind of my dream with the channel to make every episode kind of more varied, with different segments; a bit like we had with the Christmas special, and a sort of super-budget version of Digitiser the Show. Kind of a variety box of content. If we can do that on Patreon alone, and not have to resort to Kickstarter, I'll be very happy indeed. You know me: I like a challenge!
I'm also planning to film some behind-the-desk segments with my best friend Anthony. You'd have seen him as DJ Trendy Peanut in Mr Biffo's Found Footage. He might not be a super-famous podcaster, comedian, or YouTuber, but he's very funny, he and I bicker constantly, and I think he'll fit into the mix nicely.
Exciting times!
Paul

When will you stop apologising for making content? We love you and the stuff you make, so stop it, right now!

2020-01-24 17:25:12 +0000 UTCI love the idea of Digi being a variety box of madcap stuff as it is turning into, the fact is that between the 4 mainstays (both Pauls, Eli and Sanja) there is some terrific comedic chemistry that I just can't get sick of at all!

2020-01-23 15:25:59 +0000 UTCI like your funny content that isn't funny. The stuff I show my partner and her look of concern, slight disgust and looming doubt rolled into one as I guffaw and dribble. Make more of that.
2020-01-23 13:10:43 +0000 UTCI've got much better at not worrying, letting it go, and trusting that the end result will be fine. When I first started being on camera I did a bit of that overanalysing, but now I can switch off that part of my brain, otherwise I'd never get anything edited! It does help with the old self-acceptance, though. Sanja is experiencing it a bit now, having been on a couple of vids. I showed her the cheese one, which I put up for you last night, because I love it, and I think she's brilliant, funny, and adorable in it, but yeah... she's sort of doubting herself a bit, like I used to. Not badly, mind - she's still going to be in more videos! But I think it comes with the territory. We're just not used to seeing ourselves from the outside, and can get hypercritical. For me, now that I don't tend to after the fact anymore, it's more how I was feeling in the moment; Paul and Eli together can be a force of nature, and sometimes I can feel swept aside by that!

2020-01-23 13:00:57 +0000 UTCI look forward to seeing you and Anthony! It's lovely seeing matey 'banter' (I hate the current connotations of that word but you know what I mean). I'm very excited for the upcoming content :)

2020-01-23 12:58:36 +0000 UTCIt is weird when you come out of situations feeling you haven't done your best. Not quite the same as what you do but I've had to give presentations at work, and came out of it feeling like I was awful and then going into over-analyzing every little thing I had said or done, but then had people tell me that it was really good. I think sometimes we can be very overly critical of our own things. Definitely looking forward to seeing what is to come in the future. Renting the studio sounds exciting and like you'll be able to do some interesting things! Looking forward to seeing the guests you get too.
