HEAD OF STEAM

There's a weird thing which happens to me when I'm really busy. I find that the more work I have on, the more productive I am. I dunno if it comes from a feeling of wanting to reduce the pile of stuff I have to do - having a gun to my head - but I do work faster and better if I have a lot of it in my metaphorical in-tray.

It takes me longer to get going on a script when I've not been writing regularly for a while, or I've just one script on at a time. I think it's partly down to my brain being switched onto that track, building up a head of speed. Also, I like to keep busy, or I get distracted. Being able to jump from one script to another stops that distraction from happening.

Fortunately, there usually comes a time when that head of speed reaches a sort of terminal momentum, and typically the journey comes to an end, just in the nick of time, before I crash.

I'd love it to be able to Digitiser full-time - really build on it with regular videos, more articles, and more. I'd love to be able to build up that head of speed with Digi, and see where it took me. I've no idea if it'll ever be possible that the site could be big enough to be self-sustaining, and pay my bills - I suspect not, given the amount of competition out there - but who knows what sort of impact Digitiser The Show might have? Right now, the future for Digitiser is kind of unknown, in the best possible way.

Anyway, just to forewarn you... as I kind of hinted at in my previous post, I'm going to probably take off a big chunk of August. It hasn't just been the busiest year of my life, but it has happened after I'd already been working flat-out more or less without a break since the start of 2016. Even on holiday last year, I ended up editing Found Footage episodes, so - suffice to say - I'm running on empty at the moment, and very, very close to hitting the wall

I know this'll be disappointing - so fully understand if some of you decide to throw in your Patreon towels - but it's for the long-term good. If I'm not sensible, and try to find time to rest, it'll have a negative affect on Digi going forwards (and Digitiser The Show, which I intend to dedicate the autumn to).

There'll still be Digi for the next few weeks, and the lovely and excellent Super Bad Advice has volunteered to step in with a few articles during August, so you won't be abandoned entirely. And I promise to make it up to you when I'm back.

You know already how grateful I am for your ongoing support.

Enjoy the break. Ask Mr. T to watch the house while you're gone.

Have a good break, you deserve it!

Excuse me, I'll not be throwing my towels anywhere, young man. After all, if you wanna survive in this universe...
