DIGITISER: THE SHOW - IT'S HAPPENING
Added 2018-01-25 10:46:53 +0000 UTCHey-yo!
By now you might've seen the promo image I've put together for Digitiser: The Show. Here it is, look:

That's a working title. Somebody suggested The Digitiser Show, and somebody else suggested Digitiser-X. But we'll see. It's a way off yet. As the image suggests, we're aiming for a late-February Kickstarter campaign. That gives us a few more weeks to try and get the Found Footage rewards out before starting this new campaign.
Also, of course, though we'll start in Feb, there'll be a month before everyone's charged for their support, so hopefully we'll all be over the Christmas financial hump by then.
We've been busy putting together the pitch for the show. In writing it, I've realised how "right" it feels to be doing this. Timing-wise it feels right, where I'm at it feels right. I hope - I think - we'll make something special. There are a few exciting elements still to come, which I'm not yet able to reveal, but hopefully by the time we go live I'll be able to tell you about them.
The aim, ambitiously, is to make a show which feels like the sort of classic games TV show we used to get. Having failed to learn my lesson that cheap-and-cheerful stuff tends to do much better, I nevertheless want this to be a proper, full-blooded show. It isn't in me to just bash something out. If I'm to do this, I need to do something that I'm proud of, and that I would want to watch. I want it to be the antidote to screaming YouTubers and Let's Play videos. Though we're not going to make this an official part of the pitch, we have talked about it being Top Gear for gaming.
Paul Gannon and I came to the conclusion simultaneously that if I'm Clarkson and he's Hammond, then we need a James May. More on that in due course...

I considered that, but it's technically not on TV. Also: the name hasn't been decided yet!

2018-01-26 09:37:02 +0000 UTCClearly if you want to replicate Top Gear then the third man needs to be Mr PSB for the first series. Then ditch him, never repeat the episodes and THEN get your James May in. Job done. That will be Β£15,000 consultancy fee please.

2018-01-26 02:02:49 +0000 UTCI am excited for this. Perhaps more than is appropriate for a middle-aged person. You'll need to up your smugness level to do a passable Clarkson. π

2018-01-25 11:14:56 +0000 UTCOr a James May-ette? Bring back Violet to gaming TV (except she's probably busy)!
