Remember than hammon's bog had multiple level 50's. You wouldnt really expect people to be gushing over toros the smith if he visited the city. Brin is also disguising the rarity of his class, making it seem like a much more expected conjuror class with a slightly unusual knightly prefix. Its more like 60s is potential to be a regional influence and 70s is established regional influence. 80's and above is state weapons, but in the same way an artillery regiment is, rather than something like a nuke.

Lvl 20 is about the level one will stop at if their class is just their 9-5 and they don't actively look for diverse challenges. Lvl 30 is about the level most people will reach over the course of their life just by the challenges they are likely to face in their life. Lvl 40 is if I recall correctly reached by about 10% of people and is considered vary respectable if not astounding. This procentage is significantly higher in frontier community like the bog hamlets since limited resources, general danger and limited number of specialists force people to face numerous and diverse challenges related to their profession and occasional monsters. Lvl 50 is according to Hogg when talking about caravan master is the point that nobody reaches without being dangerous or exceptional in some way. Nobody at that level should be underestimated. Lvl 60 is people like Hogg himself. Regional powerhouses that can single handidly have huge impact on a whole region or more and are of national interest. Lvl 70 is the absolute powerhouses. National secret weapons, archmages, grand masters of knightly orders. People whos actions can redirect the course of war and history. We don't really have many examples of lvl 80+ but we know that our friendly system patron diety was supposedly level 104 before becoming a godling. So either 105 is the threshold or anyone over 99 can but doesn't have to ascend. Brin being level 49 at age 15 is quite frankly ridiculous by this metric. And while we know he is a protagonist I find it weird nobody in the story finds it astounding. It kind of made sense while he was acting as a knight. A prodigy of a world renowned knightly order at the end of biggest war in a century being level 49 at 16 is impressive as hell but not beyond belief. But I think it would be cool to show people who are impressed and maybe doubtful about his level now that he is in a more academic circle than probably doesn't level by combat nearly as much

2026-02-25 13:03:03 +0000 UTCI would love it if just he talked to lumina about what mage classes are possible for him specifically and what a person has to do to earn a mage class generally, maybe with examples of common mage variants . It would be a nice opportunity for world building and bonding, plus I feel like brin doesn’t know enough about what’s possible to make an informed decision.

Gives "free" new skills or skill upgrades then the meta should be to go through as many class changes as possible. Combine this with him being lvl 48 aka close to 50, he could pull of this: 1) switch to [glassbound illusionist (epic)], grind that to 50 and get 2 skill points. 2) witch to a [pre-mage] class akin to Hoggs [Conjurer of Hard Light] or [student of magic] or something. 3) then once he is good enough he will get offered [Mage of Glass and light] or whatever, which can be 4) in years and years enchanced into [archmage] and voila, a powerhouse in the making

Using [Lazer] Maybe even go host with Marksi to make some stuff. -Imitation of by [Laser Etching] to make precise, non-contact process that uses focused laser beams. -Sure instead machine your got Mark's.
