Hi! Here are a pile of photos from my floorwork set that if I post on IG I will likely get deleted for šŸ˜‚ they are by Veronica Bonderud. She is crazy talented. Enjoy!

The Grit video

Hi y’all, I was going to post it but then Vimeo was glitching and then I forgot and now it’s a million years later. Here’s the floorwork performance from Glamour and Grit! Song is Tonight by Black Atlass

ā€œNudeā€

Hi friends!

I have received the footage from Cherry On Top’s Glamour and Grit showcase and I’d like to share it with you. It’s been a long time since I’ve shared a burlesque video and I’m really pleased with how the act went. I can nitpick a few things in the details of the technical side of the performance but overall, I think this is the best I have ever done this piece.

The last time I did it was probably about 7 or 8 years ago, and I have evolved into my dance expre...

Hello, once again

Thank you for hanging out while I’ve mostly existed and worked on settling into what feels like a whole new existence over the past couple of years. I have a bunch of photos from an end of summer shoot I did with Sarah England of Peach Dreams Boudoir, and this seems like the best place to share them at the moment!

I recently performed at Cherry On Top’s Glamour and Grit at The Rio and it was my first time in a true burlesque show in quite some time. I resurrected an act ...

20 (ish) minute targeted leg and core work video!

Hi!

As I failed to record the whole movement session, here is a recording guide for the first part of the work, which is a lot of the more challenging stuff. Use it on the days where you don’t have time to block off an hour and want something efficient to get your body firing, or use it as a warm up before stretching, or active muscle release rolling session.

Recording from movement time on Sunday

Hi friends! Okay, full disclaimer, I messed up and missed the first 20 minutes of recording. So, as soon as I’m back in town I am going to make a 20/25 minute leg, back, and abs focused video recording to cover the exercises that are missing from this video. You will have it on Friday! It will also be a great ā€œget some movement inā€ length for times you know you wanna move but just don’t have the time or spoons to take a full hour.

Here is the password to access Sunday’s link:...

Zoom link! See you Sunday!

Here is your link to the livestream! Let me know if you have any requests or injuries you’d like to be mindful of or to work on rehabbing (or both) either by commenting here or private messaging me, or by telling me in the class. It will be about an hour long, maybe a few minutes extra so we have ample stretch time at the end. Make sure you have a yoga mat, maybe a block for extra support, something soft for your knees, mini resistance bands are optional. If you have a foam roller that woul...

Sunday Movement Time

Hi friends!

I’m running a zoom movement class this Sunday as a trial for a monthly group class. I polled my IG but not everyone who responded is on here so I want to check with you also.

Does 1 pm work for you? Or would you prefer it later? There will be recordings saved for you to download.

Zoom link to follow! It will be all levels, stabilizing and stretching and maybe some rolling out. Just general feel good getting connected in our bodies.

See you soon!

A thank you treat

Hi! It’s been ages, I know.

Firstly- I am *for real* going to do a Titanic tutorial for all you pole friends.

Secondly- My sincere gratitude for sticking around while I’ve been absent. I’ve gone through a lot of changes in the past year (or several) and my focus went to recharging and restoring for a lot longer than I expected. The hip injury derailed me more than I thought. Although I am recovered and feel solid now, it has taken quite a lot of time to feel as if I can be c...

Conditioning Overview

Hi friends!

I had a couple requests to make a post about conditioning and also hip mobility/openers and luckily enough, my conditioning routine has a good chunk of hip stability (because that’s where the mobility comes from) and openers involved.

This is a 45 ish long video where I demo different movements and tell you how many times I do each one. Typically, if I were doing these movements all in a flow I would be doing this for 45 minutes minimum, often an hour, or...

Jade Split!

Here is a jade split tutorial! Specifically, a butt shelf jade split.

You need a solid outside leg hang for this move.

Invert to your outside leg hang. Don’t forget to squeeze the heck out of the pole into your body with your tricep/arm, it is very key. When you have this contact point into the side of your body, it makes it very secure.

The more you drop your back leg and arch into it, the splittier it will look. It is an open split, so if you’re feeling stiff or donā€...

Pole Acquired!

Dear friends,

Thank you so much for your patience as I waited for Platinum Stqfes and then X Pole to rectify their error and send me a pole that I could use. It took three months but now we are here.

I have had tutorial requests and I’m adding to the list! Please comment and let me know what you would like to see. It can be pole, floor, or muscle group targeting training/release work.

Jade Split tutorial coming soon! This will also include inside leg hang, and Starfish. View Post

Floor spin tutorial!

Two spins for your floor work fun times. A butt spin and a side hip spin. These are really dynamic and super fun to incorporate into choreography, and they aren’t terribly difficult, either!

Here is a link to a choreography I made for a level one floor work class. I do include a knee spin as well, which I don’t cover in the video because I forgot that I did it šŸ˜…

With a knee spin, again mega core engagement! I open my outside leg and twist my torso to ā€œwind up...

A performance video + thoughts on performing with limitations

Hello, my friends! I am officially dancing again, and it very much looks like I’m going to be able to avoid surgery which feels nothing short of miraculous given the chronic pain and immobility I went through in the late summer and into December. I am extremely grateful.

I have half of one of my shows I did on Thursday to share with you, and I want to share my current thoughts on performing while I’m at it:

I am personally in an uncomfortable space in my performing....

Hip stabilizers

Hello!

Here is a movement series taught to me by my physiotherapist. The focus is on stabilizing the femur within the hip socket, which helps to reduce cartilage wear and tear during all the wild range of motion things we do with our bodies!

You will need a long resistance band that you can either make into a loop, or already has loops, or three mini bands looped together, and something sturdy to attach to (ie a door, pole, or piano in my case)

These aren’t large movemen...

Hello friends

Thank you for bearing with me during this weird time.

While I wait for hip surgery, I have decided to start making short movement instruction videos focused around conditioning and stretching different muscle groups. Videos will be around 15 minutes, maybe a little less, maybe a little more, depending.

After my surgery (I’ll update you once I know when that is) I am going to do my best to document the physio exercises designed to stabilize and rehab hip injuries. A ...

Hi all

So, some of you are connected to me on my social media accounts and got the update yesterday but not everyone is, so here it is:

My hip has a labral tear and AVN of the femoral head. Potentially some other stuff but we need more tests. Basically, my blood supply to my bone has been compromised due to the tear in my cartilage and I’m experiencing bone necrosis. So. Serious stuff. I’m booked in to see an excellent specialist on October 22nd and am in good hands. I will ne...

A club video!

Hi all,

First off, apologies, I meant to delay charging on this month as well but I have been massively adjusting to having a job again and the energy it takes to do said job!

I’m not sure what I’m going to be posting on here in the future. My body is pretty taxed with work, and I’ve been dealing with my hip flexor injury being chronically distressing, so I am not feeling inclined to add more physical tasks to my to do list until I feel I have more of a handle on how to bal...

Movement Time Recording

Hello! While my billing cycle is paused for the month, here is June's Movement Time. You can download it so you'll have it with you wherever you are, or you can stream through here.

Once I have a work schedule I can anticipate, I will likely do weekly streams for warm ups and body care (think rolling out and gentle stretching), so I think this (or something like it) will be a thing again, I just need a structured schedule to work with.

In the meantime, enjoy!

Paused for July

Hello, nice human beings <3

I'm pausing the billing cycle for July. I'm having a little recharge, a refocus, and apparently the club is opening again on July 8th, so it'll be a readjustment, too!

I will be back!

Take care, and please keep as cool as possible in the heat wave if you're in the PNW.

Tiny break

Hi friends,

Thank you for your patience. My bird passed away and I am grieving pretty thoroughly. I am trying to do as much movement as possible but I am very focused inward right now and might not have a new video for a week or so. I will process these feelings and come back when I feel able to connect again. I will also likely record some of Sundays Cellar Door performance and post it here.

Much

love

Movement Time- On the splits side

Hello! Here is last week's recording. It is geared a bit more towards splits than upper body flexibility.

I will be doing one more live session this Saturday, and then I will be moving towards creating mini conditioning and tutorial videos, as my in person teaching schedule has ramped up again.

If there are any requests you have, let me know! I have a couple requests for transitions out of shoulder stands, a forward fish flop (lol, that's going to take a bit, because it's terr...

Key muscles to condition beforehand:

Abs- five minutes

Glutes- five minutes

Back- five minutes (active flexibility focused)

Headstand tutorial request!

Conditioning: triceps, core, straddle.

Push-ups, planks, pikes, toe taps, etc! And be sure to not overdo it too many times. It it’s a lot of load on the neck. I’d say three attempts in one day is a good number! And do this against a wall if this is a new skill.

Have fun!

Floor combo

Hello!

So, building some skills together: shoulder stand after shoulder roll/scorpion roll. When you get to the point where you can solidly lift your legs, your exit has two options- rolling over your back and shoulders, or rolling over your belly in a half fish flop. This is a really safe way to start exploring the technique of a fish flop, so if that’s a move you are inteterested in, get your shoulder stand super solid and start playing with the exit!

Be sure to do at least a...
