2026-02-23 00:29:59 +0000 UTCWhich is always ludicrous given that many of the hurdles to faith get resolved by the tropes of the genre. MC knows there is a soul. They know there is an afterlife. Half the time small g gods are revealing themselves. It isn’t proof of capital G G-d but authors don’t usually go that route in terms of MCs rejecting the revelations transmigration offers up. They just stick with secular skepticism and ignore some pretty astounding events. Life after death and the soul continuing through death is actually a bigger deal than being able to shoot fireballs

2026-02-14 22:00:32 +0000 UTCI actually really, REALLY like that Brin has gone native wrt Religion and seems to have actually found faith. That's an incredibly rare thing in fantasy fiction and rarer still (to the point where I'm not sure I've ever seen it before) in Isekai.

2026-02-14 19:11:46 +0000 UTCor maybe just that Tonin is trusted enough, but that's definitely bit weird. I feel like they do this a lot where something is supposed to be super secret and is then just casually mentioned or talked about in a group or with random people around.
