I personally really liked the ending for both couples. As you said it really fit where the characters were in terms of self-development and how the relationships had played out up to that point. I would love to see the second couple in their own series one day! (Also if you looking for recs there's a new JBL called I Hear the Sunspot and the manga it's based on is really good. The show only has two episodes so far but they're doing a great job so far!)
