So check this out. We’re getting closer to finishing both the Monger rules and the core skirmish rules that power that game (and that are going to take their place as the compatible sister-game to CRUX) and I wanted to get you an update on the progress.
Shown here is a unit built using the generic rules. As you can see, it uses the same card allotment that we showed off in our Monger preview. This is Sir Roys, a Star Hat miniature that will be coming to patrons next month along with a ton of other fantasy heroes and monsters. To stat our stalwart little knight, I stacked the Human and Soldier ancestry/archetype templates, giving us the base values you see in the central card. I gave him the WISIWYG equipment on the model, including a side sword for when he wants to deal cutting damage. Then, thanks to his archetype he took the Tactician ability (available to the Soldier type) and the War Dancer ability (normally only available to Warriors, but he took it as his Adaptive feature native to humans).
And there you have it. A bold dungeon delver kitted out for adventure with cards referencing his full sweet of abilities.
Speaking of which, the reason we’re sub-titling the game as “miniature gaming” and not “wargaming” is that you can do more than just wargame with it. Aside from the base skirmish rules, we want to include full rules for Hero Quest style dungeon delves (the same system that’s powering Prisoners of Gaznak, no less). You could even do lite roleplaying. It’s turning out to be really versitile, and we couldn’t be happier with our play tests.
This is all yet another reason we have to find time to get our Discord up and running, and we’re going to put a focus on that as soon as the brunt of this work is finished.
More soon,
