Aspect of the Chaos Dragon process
Added 2020-12-09 02:39:23 +0000 UTCAlright, I mentioned that there was something unique to this process when I posted this guy yesterday, so here it is.
If you follow the images, you can see that the body was sculpted (poorly) in salt dough (basically just salt, water, and flour). We then baked that, and scanned it into a 3D model. I sculpted a head and some dinky little wings, added a few more tendrils, and printed it. Just slapped some paint on the final product.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with this. I think we’ll be doing more with this method, and the natural texturing is going to be great for terrain, I do believe.
Any thoughts on doing a salt dough sculpture contest? I’m thinking we could scan people’s sculpts and distribute the models. Maybe the winner would get a printed/painted version of theirs? I don’t know. It’s an idea. Thoughts?
