September 1st, 2017: Lag? And Translation Report
Added 2017-09-02 00:41:55 +0000 UTCPeople have been reporting slowdowns in Meltys Quest, and other RPGMaker MV games. It's a very common complaint. I was actually skeptical when Sachinama first announced he was doing Meltys Quest in MV because MV just, has, so, many, problems. But after working with MV, I can see it has quite a bit of potential. But it's still laggy.
So if anyone wants to help out, I would greatly appreciate it if they have experienced any noticeable lag to:
- Tell me exactly what situation is causing you lag and how laggy
- If you have the game on a HDD or SDD
- How much RAM you have and how much memory is already being used by your computer before you play Meltys Quest
- If you have updated your video drivers to the latest version, and if you haven't, update it and see if updating has reduced the lag
Maybe there's some stuff I could optimize. Maybe a lot of is MV being still innately very unoptimized. But either way, I hope with enough information I can get an accurate grasp on what the recommend system specs I should write that the game needs.
As for the translation report, including yesterday, I've finished all the church scenes. And I'm now moving on to the seventh dungeon, starting with the seventh monster scene.
I'm went over all the church scenes for pretty long, rewriting the language until I was satisfied. I'm happy with the way they turned out, but now I'm kinda unhappy with some of the earlier scenes that I wrote. Now I'm thinking some of them are a bit too dry, literally, like literally dry and not boner inducing. I think after the seventh dungeon is finished, I'm going to revisit them once more. Sigh, the mount of perfection seems so far away today too.

2017-09-02 12:54:49 +0000 UTCOne way to bypass the lag is to toggle fullscreen (F4). The game usually lag after a battle where it shows how much exp was gained (same exact problem with Roundscape Adorevia, another MV game) or there is a scene transition, such as the start of a battle. My computer is running on HDD (processing by SSD), 32GB of RAM, and 1-2 versions out of date video drivers.
