August 21 2017: First Post and Report

This might be longer than my usual posts in the future but MAN, I am so excited to share with the world what Sachinama has been working on for two years and what I've been working on literally all month! Right now the focus is on getting a demo version up on dlsite and dlsite english.

In terms of the contents of full Japanese version of the game, meaning ignoring things like coding, gameplay balance, playtesting and debugging, it is about I would guesstimate 80% complete. All the dungeon, enemies, enemy sex scenes and plot are finished. There are just a few endings left and several endgame sex scenes left. 

What took the demo so long to get out is mostly because I joined but I don't mean that in a negative way. There has been a lot of game systems overhaul, changes and game optimizations since I joined and the first week of August was the first time I touched any RPG Maker creator program or Javascript. There was also a ton of learning on my part to get what I want to happen in game. Did you know it is fucking complicated to get an image drawn using scripts in RPG Maker MV? For whatever reason, there isn't a simple master function for just drawing shit. It's hidden in layers and layers of code with different rules depending on if you're drawing in a window or a 'scene window' or who knows what.

But it's all good. Anyway, when I offered to localize this game into English, it was just that - translating. I ended up doing quite a lot of other stuff but it made the game better and believe it or not, apparently even through all the overhauls, I helped push the game closer to release faster.

So what's holding up the demo right now are the final finishing touches to any changes to the game that would affect the part of the game in the demo. Like the two different difficulties in the game right now, which you guys will see it when the demo is out. Having the Princess difficulty was my idea. So if you hate that mode, put the blame on me and not on Sachinama. 

About 40% of this game's sex scenes are from losing battles. There is already a super simple method of auto losing a fight with the click or press of a button and most people will probably utilize that very heavily to see every scene. And we pour our heart and souls into the sex scenes so seeing them all is a good idea. My ideal is a mode of a playthrough where the player could naturally lose the battle, like overestimating how far they can push into the dungeon without fully refilling all their resources beforehand. But I don't want to create artificial difficulty by multiplying every enemy's health and damage by 3 or some crap like that. Because in the end all semblance of difficulty can be wiped out through tedious grinding. And I don't want to encourage grinding because that's just a waste of time. I hope there will be people who pick and play princess mode without grinding and enjoy facing the challenges head on as they come. It's really meant to be a roleplaying immersion type of mode. you know without all the metagaming stuff of grinding for gold/exp or running off to sleep in an inn when the boss is right in front of you.

Anyway I wrote enough, here is today's translation report:

Today I finished translating one enemy boss sex scene, and the plot of one dungeon. Hopefully tonight I'll be able to finish a character sex scene. I also spent about 2~3 hours this morning coding and talking to Sachinama. Usually on an average day so far this month, the coding and talking part usually takes up about 4~9 hours of my day. As the demo release gets closer it will probably take up way more than 3 hours like today did.
