Wow what an incredible game. I can't really forgive Curly for being an enabler to Jimmy's abuse and even trying to like protect him and comfort him. It's incredibly common IRL how friends of rapists will either turn a blind eye or rationalize oh it's just one horrible mistake my friend is still a good person. I get Curly was trying to keep the crew stable and tensions low but yikes it leaves a REALLY bad taste in my mouth. However I don't think Curly deserves the torture he went through but that's him just reaping what he sows but to an extreme extent.
Looking back at all the scenes with Anya, I realized just how much depth there is in the narrative. I think she saw herself in the injured Curly because he's helpless without a voice like abuse victims and it probably triggered her leading her to want to avoid feeding him meds. That one little cutscene where she's looking at the night sky on the screen with Curly has SOO much depth to it. She asks how much longer until they arrive because she want's to escape the abuse and she asks Curly why the sleeping quarters has no lock but the medical room has one which implies that Jimmy constantly assault her at night like I don't think it was a one time thing. I think this is why she also stays up at night and sits in the common room area because she feels safer (she always looks tired with bags underneath her eyes). Curly COMPLETELY misses her implication of wanting to sleep in the medical room because of the lock which is just wow. I'm being kinda harsh but like I feel like it's lowkey common sense to want women to feel safe especially in a space where it's like ALL MEN. Also, I believe Anya constantly saying how she's nauseous was a sign of pregnancy, and her ALWAYS apologizing to Jimmy and acting really meek + submissive was a huge sign of abuse and fear as well. And Jimmy casually making that cocktail to knock Swansea out makes me think this wasn't his first rodeo idk.... ;/
As for Anya talking with Swansea I believe she told him about the abuse & pregnancy because Swansea saying "she told me a lot of things" to Jimmy was him indirectly saying oh so your a piece of shit. It's sad though how even though he knew about her being pregnant he still tried to save Daisuke (best boy though he did NOTHING wrong same with Anya). Crying thinking about how this also reflects real life where victims of abuse are not believed or taken seriously.
Also, I think Jimmy was abusing Curly as well. The noises Curly makes when Jimmy "feeds" him the medicine could be Jimmy forcibly shoving the pills down his throat or even like hitting him. Even though Jimmy sees Curly as a friend, the jealousy runs deep and we know Jimmy is just an abusive person in general both physically and mentally like how we see him abuse his power to convince Daisuke to go into the vent. I think Jimmy assaulting Curly in a vulnerable state just makes sense considering the core theme of SA.
I believe Jimmy letting Curly into the pod was not him taking responsibility but running away because to Jimmy facing death like crashing the ship was better than going to back to earth and facing punishment. A piece of shit until the very end
Sorry for yapping I just think this is a great game exploring topics of abuse & the human condition.
