[EARLY ACCESS] Madoka Magica Reaction Episode 7: Sayaka's Losing It

Loving this series! Another interesting point about Kyoko's flashback - we learn that she had a little sister, and now she has met an underclassman that she sees herself in - or perhaps by extention, her late little sister? Anyhow, Kyoko has gone uncharacterstically far to help Sayaka. Re: Zombies: I think that in Japanese culture your spirit/soul is considered very important, and not something to be messed with. Of course this is the same in the west, but generally I think many westerners don't really believe in, or think much of that stuff. The horror, that the girls' souls have been extracted into the soul gem, is probably amplified due to cultural differences, and they effectively see themselves as dead (or that they have lost their humanity at the very least). Sayaka sees it as fundamentally wrong to ask Kyosuke to "hold her" because the "her" he would be holding would just be her dead body. Kyubey would probably argue that fundamentally it isn't much of a difference, but to Sayaka and the others it is more than that. And yes, I think you are spot on when it comes to Mami - Sayaka is very much putting her on a pedestal, probably because she never witnessed any of Mami's vulnerable moments - she only revealed those to Madoka. Generally I will say that there has been a lot of thought put into every aspect of this show, and there is also a lot of visual symbolism - though to be fair there are also a lot of stylistic design choices and even references to other shows. For example in some of the previous episodes there have been a lot of weird empty chairs scattered about, these are generally believed to be a reference to a manga called Bokurano, which Madoka Magica is inspired by.
