Added 2024-11-22 04:00:03 +0000 UTCDid you know that many game company thought that Laserdisc technology was the future for all gaming in the 1980's? Laserdisc games works by using real video and then putting the game item on top. This could make the game look amazing but also little simple because you can not move the video. Only the sprites on top the video can be controlled. So many games are shooting or similar. We looked at Laserdisc game technology in my Galaxian 3 series!
On the MSX home PC in Japan which was very popular some company like Pioneer made models that would connect with laserdisc players. Here people with a lot of money could play some Laserdisc games from arcades at home!
The MSX Laserdisc only had maybe eleven games for the system. But they are all interesting! We will look at some in the next parts.

Yes, I remember seeing Laserdisk Players in Electronics stores and Dragon’s Lair the arcades. I wanted a Laserdisk Player but we could not afford it but by that time, 1985 VCR prices had really come down so that was pretty much the end of Laserdisk. My family got our first VCR in 1985 as well.
