But the famous baby on the front is the kewpie baby and was made in 1909 by an American woman called Rose O’Niell. The name Kewpie is from the “Cupid” character of love. so they look similar..
Kewpie mayonnaise in Japan was made by Toichiro Nakashima for his food products company in 1925:
Rose O'Neill’s baby Kewpie is public domain character so it can be used anywhere and that is why so many dolls are still made. The Kewpie baby is very collectible!
Now the Kewpie company is very successful and make billions of dollars each year!

2024-11-22 00:48:37 +0000 UTCI sometimes buy Kewpie Mayo. But I don't use it for everything I would use on Mayo. Typically I only use it for things that would also require eggs because Kewpie Mayonnaise has a strong deviled egg flavor.
