Cantre'r Gwaelod / The Drowning of the Bottom Hundred

S'mae!

The story of Cantre'r Gwaelod is essentially a cautionary tale about drinking on the job and how unreliable your boss is, I thought with the state of the island that now is the perfect time for this story.

As with all tales there are more variations than just the 2 I have mentioned. Cymric stories, like most folklore out there began with the oral traditions and so there will always be some differences. In the one today it was damage to the wall, in the children's version Seithenyn was in a hurry to get to the King's party and forgot to close the gate. What they all have in common is the ending.

Also if you do happen to plan a trip to Aberdyfi in August be sure to check out Race the Train in Tywyn, it's so much fun!

Mwynha!
