The introduction of cliff is pretty important. It was still a chapter in the light novel, But I won't say anything more lol. Just remember just because its an ova absolutely does not mean its unimportant. Hope you enjoy monster, its a great oldish series and a fun watch.

Just started the monster series, and hopefully you’ll notice and enjoy the difference! Also with it being an OVA I diverted away from the show a lot more since it didn’t progress the story much.
