Amy’s mother was the author of the Amazing Amy books. In every book her mother wrote the character to one up her daughter. Her mother was continually shaming her and making her feel like she could never measure up. Her mother was a psychopath, I believe, and Amy likely inherited the propensity for also being one. Over time she became more and more enraged and started controlling and manipulating others to make herself feel more powerful. I don’t think she ever loved Nick. I don’t think she’s capable of love. I don’t think that he really loved her either, but not because he wasn’t capable. Nick wasn’t a great guy but he wasn’t dangerous. He made bad choices and because of that he suffered immensely. When Amy saw the interview with Nick she believed that if she went back she could control him again. It was just too tempting. Also remember the guy she set up to look like a rapist, she essentially still has power over him. He cannot get a job or even a date because he is listed on a public register as a sex offender.
Very sad for Margo, she is the innocent victim in the end.
This is an incredible film but it is extremely dark and disturbing.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this one. You both have great insight and I love hearing your perspectives.
Take care and have a good day.
