hahahaa her face scares me sometimes!

I was cracking up at Joy's face throughout 80% of this movie: 😧

uuuuu sounds good to me!!

Another underrated recent Sci-Fi movie is The Edge of Tomorrow (also called Live Die Repeat)... Its very much a Marian movie. I think it even goes under the radar of most Sci-Fi fans, so might not poll well.

The mood is pretty bleak throughout most of the film, but there is that small glimmer of hope right at the end; at least that's how I see it.

Children of Men is a favorite of mine. But like this one, so damn depressing.

Tracy Frazier

oh niceeee! we should watch those too! btw this movie took us by surprise! very good

wow HALO??? i played that game! wish they could have done it! i think i saw Sharlto Copley first time in ''Hardcore Henry'' that movie was based to appear just like a game.. first-person perspective! i couldn't guess where i saw him from, had to search after District 9! glad you like it Ellie!

a truly unique Sci film movie..neill blomkamp is a fantastic director...he made district 9....elysium with matt Damon...he was going to make a new aliens movie with sigourney weaver and it was put on hold..his movie was gonna be a direct sequel to aliens and he said that alien 3 and alien resurrection never happened....chappie is also another one of blomkamp's movies and he has a fantastic collection on amazon prime with his studio called OATS STUDIO that has about 8 or 9 short movies all Sci fi...I highly recommend you check them out on amazon prime.

So much fun watching with you guys! Awesome! The aliens tearing that guy's head off is still very satisfying. Neill Blomkamp was going to direct a Halo movie based on the game with Peter Jackson producing, but that project got cancelled so Peter Jackson told Blomkamp that he could direct whatever movie he wanted, it just had to be under $30 million. And if you can believe it, Sharlto Copley, who played the lead role of Vikus, this was the first time he ever acted in a movie. Sadly there's no sequel, but Neill Blomkamp's other very good film is Chappie (2015) which is another sci-fi movie set in modern day South Africa. Thank you!!

Ellie Miller

Glad you liked it.

So glad you liked this movie. As you say in the beginning, it's not everyone's cup of tea. This is a well made sci-fi action movie, but it is also a deep, thougtful film about many social issues. The obvious reference is to the terrible history of apartheid in South Africa. But it also has a lot to say about the military, the media, and politcs. And like all great science fiction, it shines a light on the failings of human nature - greed, selfishness, cruelity, but also its redeeming qualities. You should check out Gattaca, Children of Men and Dark City if you like these kind of deep sci-fi movies.
