Jean was a victim of her own mind sadly

And just because we haven't seen them spend much time together, doesn't mean they never did. I'm sure they've connected more than we've seen. Even if you don't get too close, you can still love someone and heavily mourn their death. Lost love hurts, even if you don't know them as well as Scott probably did.

When Charles asked his students if it was ethical to transfer a consciousness to a physical body of someone who was either in a coma or brain dead? That’s what happened in the end. Charles himself took over that man’s body that was in a coma or whatever… that’s how he “survived.”
