Update

It's been some time since I posted an update, apologies for that. Life's been a little bit crazy lately but I mean, when is that not the case? It's kind of a permanent state of affairs for adults in the 21st-century.

The shadow of cyberspace is 99% done, just waiting for one final music track to come in. We're all set for the January 10 launch. And with that locked in, I've definitely been moving on mentally to the next project, laugh track.

I've been discussing this and showing off some work in progress in the discord channel for the most part. It's more immediate, I get quick feedback, seems to work at this stage. I am however planning to make sure that Patreon gets beta downloads of the new game exclusively. Like, I'll share development notes on discord and get quick feedback but actual playable content is going to be the domain of you nice folks willing to help fund it. We're a very long way away from that however, there's a lot of systems programming and tests to do before I even start writing the story down. Beyond the notes that I'm keeping internally of course.

I'm aiming to have the next game be like cyberspace, a free release. Get off the hamster wheel of capitalism. This is a terrible idea since I'm going to be retiring from my day job due to disability and this is basically my only income source, but due to the weird rules of retirement, I kind of don't want to be making a whole lot of money anyway? Not that the games ever brought in a whole lot of money, literally only one of them has even come close to paying for itself and that's the original arcade spirits, but i'm honestly good with having this be a sink if it has to be. Patreon helps offset the costs, which definitely is needed, but I make art because I have to make art.

More to come in the weeks ahead. And soon we're going to have the full launch of cyberspace, so that's something to look forward to!

As someone also on disability, I get the money thing. It is understandable and dumb at the same time. I would rather return to teaching, but thanks to some brain issues, that will never happen. I took up a new hobby, learning how to program .pdf files and ended up creating a color-coded auto-calculating character sheet for D&D. Removing the math and color-coding stats make it much easier for new players and those with disabilities. In fact, that is my focus, and I tailor a new sheet for anyone who needs modifications to play. It's only a few dollars a month. I just broke $1000 net, (pay what you want) after four years, but those projects have helped me mentally and emotionally. I wish you the best of luck and eagerly looking forward to Shadow of Cyberspace, even though I have absolutely no idea what the game is about. Huge Arcade Spirits fan and on your Discord, that is how I found this Patreon.
