Additional Info on Resident Evil + a Question for You
Added 2021-06-16 16:19:33 +0000 UTCHey guys! I know I usually do my second weekly post on Thursdays, but I wanted to get some more info to you ASAP, and I wanna ask you guys a question!
First thing, I wanna go more into detail about how we're doing the graphics in Resident Evil!
Since the game is a throwback to something older if we wanted to a graphical callback we could do it one of two ways, low poly models and something called digitized sprites. Since the game is designed to give people boners the choice was clear.
We're taking fully rendered detailed models of the different characters and taking pictures of them, this allows us to have the picture quality of higher end games while retaining a retro feel (and letting people with older machines play the game).

Donkey Kong Country and Mortal Kombat are two series that made heavy use of digitized sprites.

Though the models in Resident Evil will look more like this.
Another thing I wanna do is give you an idea of some of the enemies you'll encounter, to make sure it doesn't come off as a completely sanitized experience.
1. A slime monster.
2. A sentient plant with hundreds of tentacles.
3. MANY mutated men experimented on with Dr. Huntsman's new drug designed to raise libido and testosterone in middle aged men.
4. Mr. X taking some cues from Nemesis and the RE2 remake by chasing you through the building near constantly.
Now I have a question for you! It seems you guys wanna have more true to RE scares in the game. While I have stuff like Mr. X planned I wanna hear from you. What are some of your favorite scares from Resident Evil, or even other horror games? What are things you'd absolutely not wanna see? Lemme know!
See you guys on Monday, have an amazing week! :D

I think one of my favorite scenes from resident evil one was the first introduction of the zombies. When your walking past the dining hall, through the hallway and as you turn the corner you see a zombie snacking on someone, then it slowly rises up to face you and you have to learn how to shoot right in that moment. Maybe it was the feeling of "oh crap a zombie" and "how the hell do I use my gun!?" As it's walking to you and you gotta figure it out on the spot!
