Moonlight Chicken Episode 8 (Full Reaction)

This show started off being something we thought would be a super spicy and chaotic with a cheating plot that would be our guilty pleasure after we initially watched the concept trailer and the final trailer.

But it was such a nice surprise that we ended up getting a beautiful slice of life drama about life, love, loss, heartbreak and so much more. The characters were well written, the story was real and relatable, and it was such a nice break from all the usual tropes that we usually get in BLs. Honestly it felt more like just a standard drama that happened to have LGBTQ characters in it, and I love that so much about the show!

HeartLiming certainly stole the show in this, to no surprise. It's so cool to see that even though Gemini and Fourth filmed this before MSP, their talent as young actors has always been apparent.

Not necessarily a show that's very rewatchable to be honest, but it's definitely a show that we would highly recommend. Especially for those who are fans of GemFourth, EarthMix and KhaoFirst.

Thanks everyone for watching with us! :) See you in the next show!

thank you so much for spending time with us! :) I'm so glad you enjoyed our reactions! LOVE the metaphor of Alan healing from his injuries relating to his emotional wounds too omg I hadn't even considered that. Totally agree. This show was a very pleasant surprise! OMG Eighth Sense is def one of our current obsessions. Hope you enjoy those reactions too! :) -Brian

It was such a delight completing the series with the both of you! Thank you so much 💜 And totally agree with appreciating all the metaphors in this show. Even with Alan’s wherein we can see how badly hurt he was (arm and leg cast, struggling to take steps to move) and slowly healing until this very last scene where he met Wen again. This time, even though there is still pain (with a cast on his finger), we can see that he is taking his steps smoothly on the path to moving on. Overall, this series is just magnificent yet unassuming with its well-written script, great cinematography and heartfelt scoring showing slice of life in various aspects. PS. Now watching The Eight Sense RVs (seen spoiler of the last ep but hoping this won’t give me much heartache 🤞)

Btw I think somewhere someone has translated the sign language that Heart has used in the show so you can check that out if you want, I read somewhere that the reason they don't translate it in the show is that the audience gets to feel what its like for Li Ming

Totally agree!!! Sometimes these things happen and you can’t explain it. Which adds to why Alan is as frustrated and heart broken as he is 🥺🥺🥺

i think I like the fact that there was no explanation as to why Wen fell out of love with Alan because that's how it is sometimes...there's no concrete reason for it to happen..a person can be the same wonderful self they were at the beginning of a relationship and you can still stop liking them based on what you go through in life ...people change so do the things which they liked at one point ...so I'm glad it was just one simple expalantion that he just fell out of love !

HAHAHA honestly we agree but I think it’s mostly because we’re so hooked on GemFourth right now that every couple just can’t compare atm lolol. Even here, HeartLiming totally stole the show!!!

wow i love that!!!!!! It totally make sense. Thanks for sharing that ❤️❤️❤️☺️

Ahhhh...Okay I love philip but first time I disagreed with something he said that he can't see why it's called "EarthMix Supremacy" coz i think they have like amazing chemistry in whatever show they are in and uplift the quality of the show by a lot...also as Philip mentioned they are not very good at the cutesy stuff which i think kind of goes with their couple which represents a more mature dynamic you look at their roles in ATOTS and even here they portray characters who would come off as weird if they start doing cute stuff which otherwise perfectly suits Gem and Fourth.. but I understand that everyone has their own taste and likes and dislikes but it did kinda hurt a little (just kidding 😊).. on the other hand I completely agree with him on GemFourth that their chemistry is off the charts ( im obsessed with them right now)

so something I read somewhere which really helped me understand the three central characters ( Jim, Wen and Li Ming) a lot better and I would love to share it with you guys: "You have Jim, nearing 40 and clearly shaped by countless people (including his loved ones) not welcoming who he is and who he loves and who believed, to a certain extent, that it was “normal” for people to think that way, who accepts himself but still has difficulty with what it means to be gay in the wider world. Then you have Wen, 10 years younger and proud and open and comfortable with who he is and his place in the world. He knows all the lingo, he seems like a little bit of an activist (if his taste in decor is to be believed) and he’s used to having discussions around sexuality and social norms. Finally, Li Ming, even younger still and so comfortable in himself that he doesn’t particularly feel the need to explore or explain his sexuality and his attraction to Heart, he just embraces it as another part of what makes him him and leaves the nail biting and the questions to other people. They literally show us the transition from “being LGBTQ is something I must live with” to “being LGBTQ is something I must fight for” to, finally “being LGBTQ is one of the many bits that is me” without ever saying it out loud.
