He deserves it with the way he never stood by his brothers side and even sided with his enemies (being part of the burial siege). Lan zhan would never. Like mengyao said, if he showed a united front with weiying when weiying was the strongest and everyone hated him due to envy, no one would have dared challenged lotus pier clan. But no, he decided to listen to outsiders talk bad about his bro and always shunning him publicly which only made the other clans more confident in bringing weiying down and making him the public enemy. He also knew weiying was only doing good too, standing up for the people that literally saved his life. Jiang cheng only has his coward ness and inferiority complex to blame. Even his “love” for wei quian was pathetic as he turned his back on her and her clan. That is why even his dad said Weiying is the one who truly understands the lotus pier way (stand up for what’s right without fear).

2023-01-11 20:08:48 +0000 UTCI don't know if you remember it from the first episode, but YanLi's words in this episode: "A'Xian, you, me and A'Cheng, the three of us should be together forever and never be parted." are the ones WuXian hears when he's washing his face in the river (when we saw YanLi's face for the first time and learned she, WuXian, and Jiang Cheng are siblings). Your reaction, "They're all going to die, and Jiang Cheng will be alone," is spot on. Like, it's kinda difficult to feel sorry for him knowing he will be the one that causes WuXian's death, but WuXian will be the "only" dead, Jiang Cheng will be the one who will have to live without anyone in the world (because he doesn't have and doesn't want anyone other than his family close to him) completely alone and broken.

2023-01-11 20:01:33 +0000 UTCHonestly, all the child actors that appear in this show are always so well cast and talented, and especially the ones who play younger versions of some already known characters do a great job making those characters clearly recognizable in them. I don't know if you noticed, but at 25:30 in your reaction, baby WuXian makes the same gesture we already saw older WuXian doing a couple times (the touching his nose thing), which I found super adorable and a beautiful added detail.
