It breaks my heart you feel that way when I and so many others find so much joy and meaning in what you make. <3 I hope these messages can give a little bit back for what you've given us. I've been battling clinical depression for two years and your comic updates were one of the few things that could get me out of bed to take my meds, have a shower, and eat. I know that sounds silly that it was a webcomic that did that for me, but it was the fact that you took a story with themes specifically about mental illness and you made it BEAUTIFUL. There's plenty of serious, dark, and explorative stories about mental illness out there, and those are important too, but you gave the world a story about a girl with mental illness who goes on space adventures! There's aliens, religious cult conspiracies, and the demons they have to work with are the metaphors for the characters own mental illnesses (I know I'm generalizing what is a far more complex part of the story, forgive me) This story helped me come to terms with what I was going through because it gave me something I could relate to and then went even further than that and transformed into a really awesome space opera. I became a patron because I wanted to support you and your art, I'll probably still be a patron when you finish Ava's Demon and want to work on something else (if that's what you want to do!) I've told my therapist about this comic, that's how much impact it had when I was at my lowest. And I know that's a lot of pressure to put on it, so let me also say that it doesn't matter if an update is late, or you need to take a hiatus, the comic is there, it exists, and it's done so much for me. I know there's been a lot of shitty people lately saying dumb, ignorant stuff on public platforms, and they're being rude idiots. Independent creators like you do SO MUCH all by yourself, you deserve better treatment from your readers. Please remember that for every 1 person writing a dumb discourse post, there's a whole silent crowd ignoring them that loves your characters, story, and you.

I hope you find something in the along the way that will have you like your comic all over again. If the problem feels more personal as in potential I feel like it still has a lot. I can imagine so much more things from just the "clues" you leave behind. From the playlists to the different perspectives you can have on just one of your main characters, I can see the love you put in your story. I love rich stuff like that. If the comic has become draining, we all understand. Drawing for twenty four hours a day and then working on the same story every week has got to be depressing. It might be important that you take a few steps back and ease up on yourself, people loved your comic back when it first started and they love it now. Maybe go back and see where you started and why you did it like so, compare it to where you are now. I can't give super amazing advice or anything, i'm not sure of the source of this feeling. But if you're unhappy with what you're drawing, that much matters. It matters a lot. Take a break if you need to. Let readers know how you feel. A lot of people love and appreciate your work-- which, i feel can be a curse as well as a blessing. It's a lot of pressure. Try not to let it get to you. As you said, you draw what you like, and you like what you draw- was that it? I think that was it. But for the time being, take some time to find what would help you feel better.

I went through a really rough period and depression due to a huge issue that pretty much flipped a bunch of my goals and plans on their heads. I had nothing to go off of, and it was a wreck. I got through it by keeping up with the comic, making theories, contributing to the fan base, and just getting into it to move away from all that had been going on. I get stoked up every week for Thursday, as I know I'll have a good time and have a goal to look forward to. Thank you for giving me at least one thing to look forward to in the week.
