Saturn's largest moon, and only second in size in the Solar System to Jupiter's Ganymede, Titan presents wonders under its golden atmosphere. While the surface can't be seen by the naked eye through its dense atmosphere, I've decided to reveal it in this depiction and still imply the atmosphere. Otherwise it just looks like a perfectly smooth golden ball. Because the surface details have only been captured with infrared light, much of my colorization and textures are imagined based on the moon's descriptions.
Titan is surprisingly Earth-like in surface features, albeit much colder and differing in color palette. The surface is shaped by liquid methane that flows through rivers and large lakes. One might assume the massive dark areas around the equator are methane oceans, but they are actually vast dunes composed of hydrocarbon grains. I'm excited to learn more about this amazing place as more data is collected in the coming decades.
