Jenny's Tale Guitar Tutorial (Part 3)

In this lesson we'll be going into how you can create tension, emotion, and feeling to tell a story with music!

Hope you all find this helpful!

Next week we'll be looking more into the songwriting aspect so get ready for that...

For people who still struggle with the bar cords, I found this video very useful: https://youtu.be/qPJKtFi2PmQ?si=QDHKKvlg2xJcgeaf

Sam van Remortel

This videos are such a good watch. Very deep, and amazing teaching skills!

I don't play the guitar, but I have very much enjoyed the guitar lessons for Jenny's tale!

Amanda Nott

I listen to this song everyday. I love it all 3 of them! Violets tale is my favorite! I like listen ing to you explain things. There's like a real calming effect in the way you speak. Its Very cool.😊 I almost wish I had a guitar to play although my fingers have a hard time reaching all the strings just right. It's hard to push the strings all the way without making the other strings go down too. So I suppose I'll just stick to violin 🎻 lol. But my goodness I could listen to you speak all day! πŸ₯°πŸ€—

Hannah Alexandra

Thanks man. Cool lesson.

This was a great video Ren, cheers for sharing it with us! I've been so busy that I've not yet been able to finish part 2! So having part 3 now will give me several productive hours to put them all together. Dissonance in the right places is my favourite thing in music so I love your use of this to convey the appropriate emotion at the end. And yet that major 7th chord before it is so dreamy πŸ₯°Music is just the gift that keeps on giving. Thank you Ren πŸ’•

I just found out that the "mystery" chord is named Am6... :

loving it. β€οΈπŸ˜‚

I dont.play a musical instrument but I am actually enjoy watching these would.love.to see.videos of.fans that have picked it up from your.lessons

Beautiful!

If you would like others to see as well. I'd post it in the "Share your Music" tab in the Discord. Or hell. Just send it to me. Where and whenever you want to

Allen Benedict

Will do - where should i post it?

I'm willing to bet that If We all suggested or said told him he would would make an amazing teacher, Ren would reply with he's too ADHD for that. But as an adult with ADHD and GAD, with a 17 yr old extremely intelligent son who has ADHD to the max, I think he would be amazing as a teacher especially with ADHD adolescents. I don't play guitar neither does my son but we can sit here through these little videos mesmerized and zoned in

Love the optimism of headphone wearing past Fi πŸ˜‚. Guitar playing present Fi is laughing a lot and swearing a bit. Still, you can’t condense boy to man guitar fiend into 3 lessons….

So, are you doing requests ? I would love patience next πŸ™. There are no tabs or tutorials out there that look like what you did all those years ago. It’s exquisitely simple yet so hard!!!! This week - palm muting is my nemesis, and I thank you for bringing it into my life!

I'd love to hear whatever you have. Or whenever you feel comfortable. It's such a cool way to learn, so id love to see it in use.

Allen Benedict

Oh I’m trying, and loving it, not sure discord wants to hear me yet! The palm muting is my nemesis this week!

Absolutely love watching these. I’ve never played guitar and with neuropathy in my hands, not sure I ever will be able to, but still love watching. You make it look so effortless. I could watch you perform for hours! Thanks for these videos ❀️❀️❀️

This was a fab lesson, I'm a tad unwell at the moment so can't hold my guitar, but watching is just as dope. I would be offended if you weren't asked to write an intro song for a Bond movie - that would be so sikkk!

Also great lesson:)

So Ren, I have not played since I was 13, 14. What would you recommend to purchase as a first guitar???

my, thank you. I like watching your lessons. If you have enough time any day, you really should give lessons professional.

End chord is I believe a Minor major 7. Commonly known as the 007 chord

I love these lessons, even though I don't play guitar. They still give interesting insight into the song, and I just like listening to you play.

not at all! finally had the time to sit down and do the first tutorial today πŸ˜… learned it, but defo need way more practice to play at speed and to finesse the last run. second tutorial... urgh, barre chords. i'm fine with the arpeggios but my dainty lil' index finger cried out after a bit so i continued with a capo >_< barre chords always have been the bane of my existence, but these lessons are encouraging me to stretch outside my comfort zone-- which is always a good thing. onwards, comrade! pace is relative and comparison is the thief of joy <3

I love these. I don't know if you know but it is so special to share these things with us. What I take from these each time has been more subtle or general as to the approach to music and I have found myself getting back into better technique and comfort with the freedom of the instrument. Using the key notes and not sweating over a wrong exact note here or there, but creating the feeling I want. Thank you for doing these.

Thanks Ren ! Learning so much x

Brilliant thanks Ren 😊

These lessons are like the MG riddles...y'all on lesson 3, I'm still working out 1... πŸ˜‚

Yeah, very helpful! Excellent lesson, thx πŸ‘πŸ»

Ok, I know that room. You are playing left handed.

So cool you take the time to do this for your guitar playing followers. What a gift! Generous Ren❣️

also, learned a new word: plectrum 🫠

I’m blown away that so few chords can do so much. Seeing how the nuances of techniques like the palm muting can make such a huge tonal impact is super interesting. Loving this series!

Your voice sounds effortless and beautiful, as always. I don’t play guitar but loving these

oh man, the antici... pation! the incorporation of songwriting elements and flow versus straightforward technical tutorial was both rengaging and refreshing. love a good mystery chord-- dissonance and semitones can create such mystical sounds. really looking forward to part iv Ω©(^β€Ώ^)ΫΆ

once you build up tendon strength and some callouses, endurance improves! <3

Is there anyone that does play guitar and has been following along? If so could you make a video and put it on Discord maybe? I'd love to see someone playing it. If so please let me know if you post it.

Allen Benedict

Thanks for the insights, Ren! Do you have a preferred set off nylon strings brand/type? I started in the Spring with standard tension, but changed them out a couple of times; now, liking the Savarez high-tension better than the other choices so far....

Keep at it Janice, you’ll get there πŸ™‚

Also watching this with headphones and no guitar in hand - can’t wait to have some free time to play along. Looks totally doable, you are a genius to put all these elements together and create a masterpiece

I don’t even play guitar but I’m so invested πŸ₯°

I don’t even play guitar, but find this so incredibly interesting. Thanks, Ren!πŸ₯°

You are such a good teacher. :)

Harry Haller

Love it, thank you!

This is so insightful Ren. Still aways from vid 3 but knowing this is waiting for me is mega incentive to keep going!! Thanks man πŸ™Œ

'we can do this little cheeky chord' 🀣🀩πŸ₯°πŸ‘πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ˜œ I love this

It looks soo easy. Thx Ren

These are the type of topics that fascinate me the most. Psychology, leading and guiding people, evoking states and experiences.

Thankyou once again iv seen so many guitar based reactors talk about this so really looking forward to trying to play it 😊 ❀

I'm being a rude dinner guest right now so I'm going to have to watch this later... absolutely can't wait! Thanks Ren and team β˜ΊοΈπŸ’•

Thanks for sharing πŸ₯°

Thank you for sharing! ❀️

I'm curious...... Do your fingers get sore?

Melinda Webb

Love watching these videos but think maybe to advanced for me being a total novice, but makes me want to at least try :)

Bless you, glorious human, for the patience & sincerity of doing these for your peeps.

Yes!

Awsome Thankyou so much your tutorials are so good x

I'm not a musician AT ALL, but these lessons are so interesting. I love learning about the creation of art. Thank you for giving these to us!
