Oh, the irony... {πŸͺ‘🧡+Y}. (where is the iron emoji?)

Speculations on Trump-Mike Johnson shenanigans; is Johnson in on this - or is this a classical Trump maffioso move to exert pressure on Johnson so that if MJ does not support a repeat of the Jan 6 house overtake of the election, Mike will be the dedicated target for mob revenge?

I doubt the Dems have the stones, but that's the point at which they have to say the court is illegitimate and it's rulings won't be followed.

I was going to ask the same thing

Not that millionaire

Seconding this, seems like something crazy enough that they would try it and I'm not sure how it would play out.

I feel very confident this Russain judge has no idea how math works and how absurd thus would quickly get.

How about this nonsense - https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/google-fine-russia-youtube-kremlin-b2638063.html

Thoughts on Elie Mystal's theory of how team Trump plans tobsteal the election. https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/little-secret-trump-johnson-election/

Yes, this please! Is the National Voter Registration Act effectively dead in the water now? https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/supreme-court-allows-virginia-purge-noncitizens-voter-rolls-ahead-elec-rcna177673

Ballot box burning! What charges can be leveled against the arsonist in the Pacific NW who tried to burn two mail-in ballot collector boxes to the ground? He succeeded in burning up hundreds of ballots in an area with super close local races.

Pending petition at SCOTUS that is concerning. Snope v. Brown 24-203 Its a Second Amendment case where the question presented is whether the constitution permits a state to ban semiautomatic rifles that are in common use. This case has already been to the Supreme Court in 2021 but was vacated and remanded in light of NYSRPA v. Bruen. (Old petition at 21-902) https://www.supremecourt.gov/search.aspx?filename=/docket/docketfiles/html/public/24-203.html

it might be a bit random, but I'd love an OA explanation about the ai/child porn case that could only be charged in california because "possessing depictions of child sexual abuse isn't a criminalised under...federal law" (guardian). https://casetext.com/case/united-states-v-smelko-1

Virginia voter registration purge 52 U.S.C. Β§ 20507(c)(2)(A) "A State shall complete, not later than 90 days prior to the date of a primary or general election for Federal office, any program the purpose of which is to systematically remove the names of ineligible voters from the official lists of eligible voters." Section B has exceptions to this rule which are 1. Removed at the request of the registrant 2. Criminal conviction or mental capacity 3. Death of the registrant Virginia's purge of over 1,600 is an obvious violation of this statute. Why in the world would SCOTUS grant the stay here? Also, and perhaps more importantly, does this stay have any precedential weight to it? Are lower courts in the future bound by this insanity? If so, this section of the National Voter Registration Act has essentially been nullified.

I don't even know at this point, guys. An hour of incoherent yelling seems most appropriate tbh. Honestly the Trump Nazi Rally in MSG is my vote. Could the racist 'comedian' really tank this election? It may be the funniest thing he's ever done. I saw a tweet from a comedian about Tony about opening for him. Booker asked if he was going to 'be funny today?'. Tony bombed.

Wishing every Clarence Thomas a very God rest his soul

How about today's SCOTUS ruling that Virginia can purge voter rolls within a week of the election, despite federal law stating that states can't purge voter rolls within 90 days of an election? https://www.scotusblog.com/2024/10/supreme-court-allows-virginia-to-remove-suspected-non-citizens-from-voter-rolls/

The "secret plan" to hijack the presidency via the current Speaker of the House.

Once again putting forth the drama between Cards Against Humanity and Musk, where SpaceX goons dumped a bunch of rocket waste on CAH's land near the US/Mexico border. Interested to see how this happens, what legal recourse CAH has, and what kinds of legal shields SpaceX might try to use?

A string of unpronounceable profanity

I would love to hear about Hachette v Internet Archive. Some of the things I’ve seen online indicate this lawsuit could have huge implications for digital lending and for libraries more broadly; it would be nice to have a reading of it from a reliable legal interpreter.

Probably time to dip into the backlog of stuff you wanted to cover once the world settled down. It's been a quiet week.
