Yeah I think CGI was still super rare around this time like you said and yeah it's crazy how much I didn't like slime's first 2 episodes but was beyond sold with every single episode after that ๐ญ๐ฅ

I liked the first couple episodes of slime, but didnt really like overlord till around next episode (they were wildin a bit too much for me). I think the CGI is the biggest complaint here but MOST of the time I can let it pass. Or just laugh. Its also pretty old. I dont recall seeing much cgi in anime before this (2015). Overall I feel like this another anime where the world is well built, and you end up liking the characters in it, not JUST Ainz.
