Lisa Series Analysis

This one's been awhile in the making.  It's only up for backers for now :D

I would like to make a video in a similar vein about Night In The Woods next month if people seem into it. Let me know!

EDIT: New version is up with fixed title cards and a new thumbnail, thanks so much for pointing it out!

Next up, Bill Nye Part 2! Well, actually, I'm working on a jokey video about Doomfist that might be done first?? If I can freakin get to play him lol

Lisa Series Analysis

Comments

This video, while covering a very interesting topic, feels like a peek in to the work you would end up doing later. Thoughtful, powerful, cutting but only when necessary. I like the positivity too. The topic is heavy, but from this low we can see the way forward.

I like it. You can also be my patron (<a href="https://www.patreon.com/MrMind)">https://www.patreon.com/MrMind)</a> to get help about anxiety and other issues.

Kinda hate that I spoiled so much of the game for myself. Not really a better place to do it however, good shit. These types of games never seemed to evocative of the kinda of depth from titles with a bigger budget, so you kinda opened my eyes. Also, I am familiar with Night in the Woods and eagerly await your take on it!

I haven't played this game yet so I have to wait to watch. It's next on my list after I finish Fallout New Vegas, which I'm playing because you told me to while clarifying for me why I disliked Fallout 3 so much.

Digging the quieter, sincere style (variation is a good thing, kids!). Can't say that the subject moved me (as I've yet to play any of the LISA games), but Night in the Woods... Yep, that sounds like a good one. Just have to sit down and play it first.

Interesting presentation of a game I never played or thought I'd play. Personally, I prefer your more humorous stuff about politics, movies and Davis Aurini. Just saying because you asked :)

civilization fiction

Keep it up!

Illuminati Games

This was super dense but in a good way. I'm watching it again for the third time to make sure I'm not skimping on any other important bits. Before coming into this video, getting into the Lisa series was always on my to-do list but the games felt overwhelming on a personal level. This video really helped alleviate some of those feelings for me to at least watch a LP. So thank you for making this! I know this was something you've been working on for quite a while. I really appreciate the all of these fantastic thoughts (it would be super cool if a Waypoint or a Polygon were to feature this). I would definitely be down for a NitW video in the future.

I liked this a lot! Would love to see more stuff of this sort, sure

Thanks. I'd like to do more nice little things like that as I try to do more well-produced videos!

I liked the format quite a bit, myself. The subject matter didn't really conduct itself well to jokes on jokes on jokes and the few humorous moments you did include felt on-brand without being off-colour. I wouldn't want this for EVERY video you do, but when you're trying to articulate the value in something that resonated with you artistically and emotionally, this sort of very empathetic emotional analysis worked really well for me. also YES DO IT READ HOMESTUCK

Ayyyy studios

also, i really like the motion graphic stuff you employed in the early part of the video. very nice and clean!

S

I really enjoyed this one and would love to see you cover NiTW with a similar format.

OH HECK

Night in the woods next please!

This is good, but you accidentally had the title card for Lisa the First say Lisa the Painful

Kzinssie

The format was good enough that I can't think of any way to improve upon so onward to Night in the Woods!

simply awesome. Thanks harris.

john Kahn

also, this is the strangest set of patron names i have ever heard you read

i couldn't really bring myself to play the lisa games to completion bc of my own trauma stuff, but i think having your perspective on them and knowing more about the endings might get me through it :) would love to see a video on night in the woods!

It was well done and definitely what I would consider high quality YouTube analysis so I certainly think you should do more.

Gabriel Costa (Hired Sword)

Great video, I've been excited to see this since you first floated it out as a poll option. I have the same struggle with recommending it to others, even though I think Lisa: The Painful is a phenomenal game, it's hard to gauge exactly where people are going to fall on the themes and, by extension, the mechanics of the game. Again, great video and I'm excited to see more.

Night in the woods would be cool to a see a video from you on, especially since I've seen quite a few different perspectives on it, both thematically/narratively and mechanically.

Ashley Bruder

I second the vote for NitW. I'll have to bookmark the Lisa video for after I'm done playing the game (which is definitely painful, as advertised).

Gem Newman

Night in the Woods was a very important and timely release this year and it's the sort of game I think we need more of. Putting a spotlight on it and your thoughts about it is definitely worth doing

S

Can't wait to watch this. Would love to hear your thoughts on Night in the Woods!

Thanks for this! I'm not much of a gamer, and hadn't heard of these. I'll add them to my list of stuff to play. (though I may not get to them soon 😁)

dj empirical

oh wow yeah I did.

Hbomb

you made a mistake: you wrote in the section for the game Lisa: The first Lisa: The painful

Alpay Yilmaz

As yet another person who's done return to the small dying industry-less town after dropping out of uni, go for it. I'm always gonna be up for more looks at NITW.
