Promo shots for Eurovision Song Contest | Nicklas Sonne

Ok, ok, ok.. I knooooow; "Yet another post with a man!??!?! Like whaaaat? 😬😆🤷🏻‍♂️" - and before you rush to close the app in a flash, I can say that you'll get a brand new woman again on Thursday, so fear no more.. 🤪
I just got inspired by myself and the post from the other day, with a handsome fella named David - to make todays post, which job wise is somehow related and the same, but technically totally different. 😁

Meet Nicklas Sonne.
A super talented guitarist, producer, singer and so on and so on from Denmark, who I had the honor of doing promos for, when he attended the danish version of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. 🥳🙌🏻

The job was simple: Make him a package of photos which could be used to promo him, on his journey into the Eurovision.

At the time, I didn't really overthink things, since I've promoshots for artists for quite some time now, so it was only when the show was on air in the tv, that it came to me how many people were actually gonna see some of the photos (which was selected to be used specifically on the show). 😆

First of all, it was a huge thing in the news as always, when it was finally revealed who the contestant for that year was. Below is a screenshot from an article on DR.dk.

Unfortunately, mainly because I'm an idiot, I can't find or did myself, some photos of the actual show with the graphics on where you could see how a photo was used on air - so I'll leave you with this photo of him performing. ☺️

One of the photos was used for a cover for the song 'Freedom' which was the one he attended with. 🥳 Check it out, if you're into catchy heavy. It's really good - but to no ones surprise, he didn't win because it wasn't "generic & boring playback pop"... 🙄

(Note the photo in the lower right corner. That was one of the shots we also did at the same shoot - and this one turned out as a cover for a single as well. 😁)

It was a super fun project to work on, since it was all done under the radar and without us saying anything, until it was officially revealed he was going to attend. 🤩🙌🏻

We did the photos in a small studio setup I did with a black backdrop and the orange one you see on the cover photo. I used two Elinchrom RX500 lights and shot everything on the Canon R5.

I know this might not be the most interesting project for most of you, but it means something for me and since I like doing these kind of shoots, I thought you should see it as well. ☺️
