I will answer D, because a Novation is when the host of a TV Science show invites you to his apartment for cheese, wine, and uncomfortable flirtation, and that is what I think happened here despite the question, not mentioning it at all.

Is that too simple an answer, though? I know the theory that suggests the simplest answer is usually the correct one, but I doubt that's true for the bar exam. Law is weird.

A; B and C are incoherent if the verbal agreement to an extension was accepted, and while "actually, we've thought it over and go clownhorn yourself" might hold up, it's pretty weak if you accept the verbal agreement. Basically, the strength of the not-A choices RELIES ON A being conceded. I'm a new Patrone, does posting answers here count?
