We are terrible, horrible people. We have taken a beloved holiday classic -- in fact, Andrew's sister's favorite holiday movie -- and done awful, terrible things to it. And most of that isn't about how badly this movie mangles the law.
Make no mistake: this movie is indeed Law'd Awful. From the moment where the district attorney rests his case after two questions, to the free-for-all cross-examinations, to the dramatic conclusion we all know and love -- this movie has no idea what the law is.
Miracle on 34th Street, as everyone knows, follows Fred Gailey (John Payne), a real estate lawyer who quits the big firm life to... defend an insane old man who believes himself to be Santa Claus (Edmund Gwenn). Along the way, Fred befriends precocious, literal-minded Susan (Natalie Wood) as part of a plot to seduce her mom, the richest and most accomplished professional woman in the world, Doris Walker (Maureen O'Hara).
Joining us to desecrate this much-loved piece of Americana are Sam from Comedy Shoeshine and Eli Bosnick from God Awful Movies (as well as Scathing Atheist and the Skepticrat).
We're sorry.
