A Dish Best Served ROLLED

Taking on a rotary broach... but correctly this time? I don't know... I'm still convinced I had it right the first time. I just have... excuses.

Enjoy!

Thanks man! At the moment no discord since there hasn't been an overwhelming interest. I know information like that is pretty common to find on the various machining forums. I've even seen youtube videos on such like this one by Build Something Cool. You may have already looked here but if not this is great info. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e72DVQSi7sI&ab_channel=BuildSomethingCool

I know... I wrote Hasbro a strongly worded email

That playdoh explanation was the best explanation of the theory of rotary broaching! Mind blown thanks!

I think I've asked for this before but is there a discord for patreons or even non patreon users? I'd like to ask for some advice from other members on machine tools, I just finished up an internship, saved up enough to buy a mill but need some advice on what to look for when buying a used bridgeport!

The tolerance on that play dough is trash.

Likewise! TOT's video was my first exposure. Of course I didn't have a shop at the time or know someone cool enough to send me the tool to begin with haha

Not as much for centering but more for the ease of cutting. That 1 degree angle makes it so only one corner is "working" at a time. Basically cutting the force needed by at least a factor of 6 compared to coming in straight

Thank you sir!

Why does the polygonal broach need to rotate ? Is this purely for centering purposes ? Thank you.

I didn't know I needed this today, but I really did. Well done.

Okay, you've got to admit that making massive tools for big machines is cool, but there's definitely a satisfaction element to making tiny tools such as this 😁 I'm aware that this will probably get limited use, but I'm a strong believer that 1) an engineer can't have too many tools 2) it makes for great viewing Additionally, the idea for sending you this one came to me after rewatching TOT's broach video. I remember watching it for the first time(now knowing that such a tool even existed back then) and being absolutely blown away. Anyway, absolute pleasure as always - glad I can contribute, and I may now go back to wondering what you're going to produce for us every 2 weeks.
