(AD FREE) Making a VERSATILE Mini Pallet

In the ever expanding quest to have the right tool for every job, this build should hopefully cross off many items from that list. Here I'll make a mini pallet system that, in theory, should give numerous mounting options for different parts. Infinite, some might say!

Enjoy!

Absolutely. Chris at Clickspring uses a very similar tool quite often. He did a video showing more detail on his fixture plate and hardware here. https://youtu.be/fyUPwMgfJwc

Hi there. I am a newbie hobbie machinist. I really want to build this. But I don’t even know how to use it🤓. Do you have a link for one in use? Love the videos.

Shannon Bailey

Thanks!!

Brandon Sander

Congratulations!

I think that could work as well as long as the profile is design right. By that I mean that the eccentricity isn't such that it can come loose.

Brandon Sander

Now that I think about it, the curved part of the fixture clamp could also be made into a cam right, It'll do the same thing but have a smaller contact area with the piece on the fixture incase you need more than 200 thou reach? I'm just curious if I'm thinking about this right.

Sri Ram Neravati

haha Thanks, Erik! I think you are right about that too. I googled it and found a lot of "shell mills" that were either indexable or required a separate arbor. Never really found one like mine

Brandon Sander

Thank you!

Brandon Sander

Thank you so much! Hope the finals went well

Brandon Sander

I did and happen to have the same one on my lathe. I've made a habit of unplugging the machines anyway so not too big a deal for me

Brandon Sander

Great episode. Congratulations on your award!

Congrats on the growth of the channel! I cant wait for the gold play button. Your videos deserve all the attention. This video is just the relaxation I need after finishing my finals!

I don't know if you already purchased a VFD, but I would steer you away from the one you pictured in the video. I have a similar model that came with my mill when I bought it on Craigslist. The biggest annoyance for me is that the VFD is always on (fans running/display on) when it is plugged into the wall. To turn the VFD fully off, I have to flip the breaker.

Nicholas McNeely

That finish though! My god. Exactly what I needed after a crap day at the real job haha. Funnily enough, I did a very similar job about a year ago, although a smaller version, and my one didn't turn out anywhere near as nice. P.S. - Pretty sure the endmill you used to suqare up the sides of the plate is technically a shell mill ;)

Erik D. Radzius

His channel and work is truly something to aspire to. What will you be trying today?

Brandon Sander

Chris/Clickspring is who got me into machining. Glad to hear you’re a fan. I always head to my shop after watching you videos to try what I’ve learned from you.

Steven Bierlink

Oh that's genius! I wish I'd have thought of that

Brandon Sander

At the old company i worked at we made similar fixture plates, but we made them with every hole threaded m5 25mm deep and reamed the top 10mm to 6H7 for dowel pins
